    hoihoi

more often then not, it is becoming obvious that people who modify their ae86, ie suspension, 20v, lsd, rim, respray, tint etc find it VERY difficult to sell their cars.

from what i have gathered, if the car is advertised for $6000 or less, the car has a VERY good chance to sell, however over $6000 and people are often waiting months and months for it to sell.

i really want to do up a sprinter, but the fact that the resale for the car (and i will pour over $6k into it, if it was to sell, it would be around the $9k - $10k ) is a bloody good detirrant.

the only thing that poses a reason for this is because the main ae86 buyer market is aged between 16 - 20ish, this would give reason as to why the chances of selling a modified hatchi over $6k high (buyers are probably at uni, difficult to afford)

has anyone else noticed this? and,
if you have sold your midificed hatchi in the last 6 months, what is your comment?

    what do we all think?

you will never get back what u put into your AE86. Never
If u are worried about the money you'll loose, go with something more out of the factory performance, that u can return to stock easily if you modify it, to sell the parts seperately.
Seems you have a good idea on what the AE86 market is like. U usually see the heavily modified AE86's (10-15k) go eventually, but most the time they take a while to sell.

The thing I have noticed with people looking for a sprinter is that they are looking for the perfect one. the one that is modded exactly the way they want it modded.

ATM there are alot of 86 out there over 10k (mine included) I've a had 10 or 15 tyre kickers that I knew aftert about 2 minutes were just dreamers, but I have had 3 or 4 genuine guys who liked it but it just isn't quite exactly what they were after. but only just...

I guess if you are after a stocker or a drifted 86 you just want one. if you are going to flash the coin for a highly modded one then, with the choice and number that are out there, the right one will turn up.

Or you keep getting offers like "sik one bruh, I want it. I'll give you 4k here and now"
said like 4k is more than what it is worth.

of course, but it is substancially more-so with ae86's then the nissan hordes etc, probably due to the fact that the volume of buyers is miniscul compared to the nissans, and 1jz,2jz toyota's.

I don't know about you, but when I spend money on my car I do it for myself and my enjoyment, I don't even think of resale value (unless you are selling old parts to fund new parts).

I think the only way I'll ever get rid of my sprinter is writing it off, there's no way I could sell it. I love it too much.

What car can you get back what you spend on it? I reckon for sprinters you would get a better percentage back from what you put in than most other cars. Any car that you actually drive you're going to lose money on.

If you want to get back what you put in buy a classic and restore it...
