Well, I got a new little toy (finally!) so I thought I might add some pics.

Sadly however, the engine is really going through too much oil. And blowing a lot of smoke.

With this amount, I would have to say it's the actual oil rings that need to be replaced, and the pistons are probably pretty tired by now too.

The clutch has started to grind as well, but that's meant to get fixed tomorrow, hopefully.

    okay, wow.

I did some fiddling with my car, forgot things, found other things etc etc.

I went to put on the clutch I had, but it was for the 212mm which dosen't bolt up (hehe i read that they do! oh well, silly me) so I swapped the 212 mm sports tuff clutch (purple one) for a exedy japan racing 200mm clutch. It's a four puck and apparently a really good pressure plate. It drives ace.

What I couldn't get done was the thurst bearing, oh well, I got one now so I'll be taking the gearbox off again next week, fun fun. Apparently you have to get it pressed on, hopefully steve will help me with many trips to various mechanics,

I have the oppertunity to get a T series diff but I doubt it's going to happen really. Just not enough time! Unless anyone wants to give me a spare diff by tomorrow morning, heh. So LSD might take another few weeks yet, damn need money for it! heh.

    Problems I found

bolt snapped off from clutch slave.
    a nut missing from extractors.
a bolt missing from gearbox housing!!
two bolts missing from gearshift leaver?!
gearbox mount now out of shape and can't be bolted to the gearbox crossmember! doh!

So yeh, plan to take care of all that next week. heh.

Also, the chaps at Exedy are champions and good sports !

    I need to track down, a T18 diff+hb cables+4.1 or 4.3 gear ratios+lots of degreaser.

Also need to track down a base map for running a bigport 16v via TPS only with quads on for an EMS stinger v3.

    Grant out.

    grr argh

well i've been fucking around with the clutch for a while, so over it.

I have a new clutch master being delivered tonight (around mdnight, haha wtf?)

so anyway, basically, the day after i get it going wiht the clutch, i can no longer get it to go into gears (like it aint disengaging properly)

i've played around with clutch pedal adjustment, but ehh, never seem to get it right, so I think I could've got it working by adjusting the clutch, but I didn't really get HOW it works (you losen the night, screw in the pin more to the pedal and then tighten the nut hehe) until I had the clutch pedal out of the car (and the master, too).. im a bit like that you live you learn eh, i can't find that online ae86 book thingo.

    anyway

bolt snapped off from clutch slave.
    <strike>a nut missing from extractors.</strike>
<strike>a bolt missing from gearbox housing!!</strike>
<strike>two bolts missing from gearshift leaver?!</strike>
<strike>gearbox mount now out of shape and can't be bolted to the gearbox crossmember! doh!</strike>

i think that list wasn't too bad eh.

So my mate (who rocks, hard) who works at a parts shop is dropping me off the clutch master tonight, so hopefully I can get that in and adjusted right by the end of the week and ah, yeh.

After the AE86 DC cruise, to my absolute shock and horror, I had a bit of clutch slip in 4th gear.. i swear, if ihave to change the clutch centre again, (fourth time) im not going to be happy.

oh well once it's sorted out i'll be happy.

Talk to truenosedan (lawson from AJPS), he can hook you up with the diff, handbrake cables and a T18 tailshaft rear half (assuming you don't have one, they are required to do a T series conversion).

    Degreaser = Sprints.

You can have any brew you want... as long as it's a Datsun / Corolla / What is that?

bit expensive for my liking and then there'd be $$ for shipping too.

just a matter of not being lazy, and going to a wrecker to pull one. On payday of course.

need to stop going to big events and spending money.. ah, cars.

    plenty of diffs around ere

    yeh update about the clutch..

i pulled the gearbox off in daylight, and wow, the pressure plate is on TIGHT AS ANYTHING, howevahz, it was sitting out by a fair bit.

The screws seemed to be rock tight yeh, nfi what happened hey.

i have a feeling for a racing clutch you have to really tighten the buggers (more than just having the crank spinning and then holding it for a bit of an extra turn)

    [attachment=9723:attachment]

    oops.

so yeh, hopefully, whack the gearbox back on tomorrow and see how i go.

hopefully it's all good, and i'll tear up, get my lsd in soon. and FINALLY get to a fuckin drift day! omgomgomg.

it's been like 5 years? wow.
