ghetto way of removing axles.......

Ok just want to know the best way of removing axles from an S series diff with out fucking the seals... I dont have the SST that it says in the manual....
Ive tried pulling them and Im no girly man... lol... but that didnt do shit...
Tried hitting from behind with a hammer and that didnt do shit.... although I could use more force but as I said I dont wana fuck anything ......

So how the fuck do I take them out so I can fit this welded center in I have sitting here...

any helpful help will be most appreciated...

(oh and the diff isnt on the car...)

first diff I did I used the inverted drum theory, took me ages, thought I was gonna pull the car off the stands, but it worked and didn't fuck the seals.

second diff I used a home made slide hammer, took two hits of the slide hammer and it was out, and they weren't freshly removed axles either. not too sure about the seals, but I can't see why it would of damaged them

and you might need to brace it somehow, I think its really the impact that you need, like pulling really hard aint gonna do a whole lot

or chuck an old wheel on, bolt it up and give it a whack with a rubber mallet (or mini sledge if you dont care about the wheel)

I use an old steel wheel and then put some old dunger wheel nuts on fairly loosely then pull out straight, so in effect a basic slide hammer. Never taken more than 3 or 4 goes to get it out undamaged.

hammer and a wheel brace did the job... belted tha kint out in no time...

I used the brake drum as slide hammer, put it on backwards, put the wheel nuts on backward so it hit the flat side rather than the tapered, only a turn or 2 so you can slide the drum back and forth along the hub studs.
