They are a good idea for sump safety (my mates use them on their rally cars) but at the speeds most hachi's get to i doubt it would make masses of difference aerodynamically
Has anyone done one of these on an 86, they made a wooden one for an 86 in Autosalon( i swear i just browsed it in the servo) magazine, do they work, i know that jap spec 86's have a plastic undershield that has a similar use???
