Dose any body do an Engineering Course at either uni's?

If i dont get and have to do a science degree for a year ill be happy beucze a freind doing it and im helping him with the work lol so easy

I'm 3rd year mech. The degree is pretty full on as are all engineering degrees with a lot more face to face hours than other degrees as well as a fair amount of assignments. They may not be hugely well organised because the people who are running it are engineers themselves Hope you are half decent at maths.

first year engineering is quite a workload - I did computer engineering at UoW part time (took 7 years) as part of a Cadetship and it was hard juggling part time load / full time work. Yeah a year off is a great idea BUT if you take a year off you will be even less enthused to study after you come back. Get the pain over and done with, take your year holiday AFTER you finish your degree. Also, in First year you get a lot of dropouts. Engineering is one of those courses where the entry marks don't inidicate how hard/ how much effort you have to put in. Basically if you haven't got good marks in 3unit/advanced maths and physics forget about it.

Yeah, I'm in third year civil at UQ at the moment.

The workload is pretty full-on, but I'm also pretty damn slack.

First year maths isn't too bad, but the last compulsory maths subject (second year) I find pretty tough. I've failed it twice already And thats going from an A in maths C in grade 12 and an OP1!

im doing Electrical Engineering at QUT next year, the workload is alot, and believe me it will be hard. the entrance OP of 10~ does NOT automatically mean its a piece of piss...

i finished school last year with an OP 4 with
    - maths B (3rd highest in the school)
    - maths C (average grades)
    - physics ( decent grades)
    - Chem (10th from the top)
    - Economics (first in the school)
    - english ( literally the bottom of the class... lol)

best advise is to prepare yourself bloody well.. heh

omg, EDIT: fixed speeeeling so nazi's dont re-iterate my shitz0r english!

I'm doing 2nd year Automotive Engineering (same as mechanical basicaly) at RMIT down in Melbourne. What people is saying is fairly right, 1st semester of 1st year is pretty much like year 12 in terms of the content, workload is probably up a bit, depends if you are naturally talented or not at maths and physics and stuff.

2nd semester becomes more challenging, as said, heaps of fails and drop outs. then 2nd year just sucks balls, the workload is even bigger and its more complicated. I'm told it gets better on from now tho, I hope.....

im finishin mech eng at monash melbourne..next week is the last of my exams and im done..basically 1st & 4th year =piece of PISS but u gotta put up with the contact hours in 1st year though..i didnt have alot of asigments all through the 4 years at all compared to business courses my frens are doing they've got heaps more..but here comes the difficult part 2nd & 3rd year = DROPOUT ..all your hardcore maths subjects will be thrown at you and besides that, u've got thermodynamics, dynamics, fluids, heat transfer stuff that requires u to be quite good with maths..and they are definitely not y12 maths ..not even close..but yea if u get through 2nd n 3rd then everythings easy from then on.
