Well I've been hanging around here harassing people for a few weeks now so thought I had better post up my car for everyone to see.

Its an ADM AE86 Sprinter. I purchased it with a seized 4AC and plan to turn it into a dedicated track car for circuit sprints. I currently race a WRX in the WRX Club Super Sprint Championship - but that car is also my daily driver and I want to get a little more serious with the racing.

The immediate plans for the car are:

    ENGINE:
    - 4AGZE w/ T28 turbo
    - FMIC
    - Haltech ECU

    DRIVELINE:
    - stock T50 gearbox
    - stock S series diff (CIG locker)
    - JDM front discs/calipers - stock drum rears
    - Wheels - Superlite 15x8 8 spoke(unsure of offset just yet) running R spec tyres

    BODY:
    - stripped to bare essentials(seat and steering wheel!) and sound deadening removed.
    - Flared guards
    - seam welded chassis
    - 6 point CAMS approved cage
    - fixed back racing bucket drivers seat

Some pics - please excuse the quality, I'm using my mobile phone camera!

Here is the car before I picked it up:

..the only performance part on the car was the Whiteline strut brace!

..ok, before I get all the experts telling me I'm going to break gearbox/diff/axles and the brakes wont cut it etc.. blah.. Yes I know. But whats to say I cant have fun whilst breaking things!

Being a track car - the plan is to develop it over time. Originally I wanted to run it stock standard to get a base for which I could compare back against for the modifications. But seeing that the engine was seized I figured I may as well concentrate on getting that done first and fix the body up whilst its minus a driveline.

So first things first - the original plan was to turbo charge the 4AGE engine I had, so I went out and purchased a hi-flowed T28 turbo from an S15 Silvia. I then stumbled across a turbo charged 4AGZE engine for sale with everything minus the turbo! I've agreed to purchase the engine off the guy and am currently waiting for it to be removed from the current car.

So onto the body work! When I bought the car, it had had some front end damage at some stage. It was repaired though and didnt look too bad on initial inspection. The person selling the car assured me that the chassis was straight. There was very little rust which was good! After removing the engine and stripping everything from the engine bay I noticed some slight deformation of the front chassis rails also the radiator support panel had been very dodgily repaired and had about 2 containers of bog thrown at it! So it'll be off to the panel shop soon to get the chassis checked out and straightened if need be. I'm also looking for a replacement radiator support panel if anyone knows of one available? My attempts to straighten the one I have were in vain due to the bodgy repair on it originally.

    ...notice the TopStage lip

So whilst I'm waiting for all that I decided I would flare the guards to accomodate for the sticky track rubber! I am really happy with how it turned out - and this is before using any body filler! It took me about half a day to do both guards. I'll be doing the rears next but am waiting on a MIG welder to weld the inner panels up.

After a quick coat of primer to stop the bare metal rusting for the moment:

The other front panels dummied up to see how it looks:

Thanks guys - happy with the progress so far. Yeah for the rears I'll be hand flaring them the same as the fronts, I'll be following Joels handy instructions for flaring the guards here:

The Levin badge came on the car when I bought it, I think it may have been hand made by the previous owner

I'm hoping the T50 will last a little while if I be careful with it, I'm hoping to have to upgrade the diff before I need to do the gearbox. But eventually I think i'll end up fitting a W series box.

The shell is being looked at by the panel shop this week to determine if the front chassis rails are bent and if so they'll be straightened. I'm chasing down a replacement radiator support panel at the moment too and should have that in the next couple of weeks.
