well i have a 4age 100kw and it kicks in around 4000-4500rpm
my old one was a 100kw bottem end with a 86kwhead and the power could come in around 3000-3500rpm
y do they have diffrent rev ranges??

Different compression, slightly different cams + the 100kw doesnt have tvis and is a small port. Ecu tuning would also play a roll in why the 2 motors are so different. Different inlet manifold, different exhaust manifold would also cause the difference you speak of.
But im betting there are more technical reason behind it.
And then you get the odd freak motor, a motor that you can put thru hell day in day out, and still lives to fight another day.
Insert witty comment here....
its interesting how small displacements work, i was too used to a 2.2L but after a few days of driving the sprinter im getting used to having to keep the revs up
..basically for a smaller engine to make the same power as a larger engine, it needs to rev more! Power = rpm x torque in very basic terms. So larger engine with more torque does not need to rev as much as a smaller engine with less torque to make the same power![]()
mine is actually lighter than pwr steering in my magna!!
my bigport with tvis removed starts at around 4500 and is really on song by 5500 peaking at about 6600.
my modded smallport starts a nice torque curve at a suprising 3000rpm !!! yes you heard right.. some people say port work doesn't do much.. helped out in the torque department!
