Ah, nice to hear the good news bout the 4age's capabilities! And yeah, will be putting 185's on there shortly when i change over to new tyres gsand. got a feeling what's left of the existing ones wont last too much longer when she's running again

Update: 4k out, 4age & gearbox, pedal box etc bolted in, pretty much just driveline now (tailshaft and swap to t-series diff), fuel system (in place, just gotta run hoses & connect pumps and then wiring. me & my mate had a look at it tonight but it might be past our capabilities Will look again tomorrow and will see. Doubt it'll be finished this weekend, but should be one way or another by next weekend. will keep ya posted

    Okay, bit of an update.......

4age is bolted in and all in place, as to is the gearbox, t18 diff, tailshaft etc etc......basically all that's left to do is wire the b!tch up, get the clutch line hooked up (and sourced....didnt come with the package, so will be phoning tomorrow ), and finish the fuel system. Got the starter going and got it to crank over, so should fire once all wired up (well thats the plan ).

Also found out that the "aftermarket" clutch in it is a TRD 3-puck brass button clutch i think.....got trd stamped over everything, and even better, there's still heaps of meat on it Ran all new gaskets and seals etc through it while it was out, so should be nice and fresh when it fires up.

Oh, and a big thanks to the lads helpin me out (you know who you are!!!)

Anyway, here's some pics for the peeps:

    Bye Bye 4k.......enjoy Mick

    Inside the beast

New and the old.....didnt realise how much bigger the t-18 brakes were

Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd - 4age as it sits now - unwired, not running, but ready for more work

That's it for now! Will keep the post updated, and also might chuck up some stuff re my experiences once done. Watch this space

    ITS ALIIIIIIVE

Well, it was alive, then it wasnt, then it was again, and now it isnt

Got her all wired up (thanks craig!!!!!), and we had some trouble getting her to fire. Eventually got it running (quite loud coming straight out the extractors!!!!! ), but then went to wire the alternator and it wouldnt start after that.

Checked timing, plugs etc, and then the dizzy........well, there was a heap of powder that came out when we took the cap off, and there was corrosion all through it Cleaned it out, but then the rotor snapped when putting it back on cause it was so f$#ken brittle. Glued it back up, wired the thermo, joined the exhaust and then got it all running again

Went for a spin around the block......took it easy, then on a straight put a lil bit into it, and then all of a sudden power is gone, no spark, and we then proceeded to roll about 400m back to my mates house (lucky). The rotor we glued had shattered

Tried one off a 4ac elec dizzy (thanks heaps Mick!!!!!! ), but no joy.

So it'll be off to the shops tomorrow to try and find one, and it should run again! WIll get some pics up shortly....and will have a review on the car tomorrow all things going well

okay, bosch GD688 purchased an in place, and engine is now running again Got my first decent drive in it (from my mates to my place - 6km) and it goes pretty well. Great powerband, though the tacho isnt hooked up yet so not sure how high im taking it (not heaps high though). Just gotta quieten down the fuel gear in the back, and tidy everything up (ie mount ecu and a few other things) and i'll be good to go. Is holding all its fluid and staying cool so im pretty happy

Will report more on it once its all setup properly and running consistently nice.

Again, thanks heaps to all the boys that helped - paul, neil, mick, craig & others!

Thanks blinky Will get it all sorted out and nice then you can have a drive (slide) in it craig

Took it on a pretty decent drive (1.5 hours) with Mick and It goes pretty hard.....gotta get a new speedo drive, and then the speedo should work properly. Mick got the tacho going, and turns out i was only taking it to about 6500rpm, so got a bit left. dont wanna thrash the tits off it yet though ONly other things are some little rattles, and the diff is whining a little i think. Oh, and the fuel pump is loud as f$#k Will get it all sorted though and it should be good.

But bottom line, anyone looking to do one of these conversions........well worth it!!! Will put up some more stuff re experiences doing it etc and maybe even pricing if im game, but we'll see. Completely transformed the car which is awesome!

Okay, bit of an update on the rolla. I smashed up my toe last weekend and as a result have been in a cast since last saturday, and thus havent done any work on the car, OR been able to drive it So no progress made, but rubber has been purchased to try and quieten down the fuel pumps, so that will be the next thing done.

Also, was gonna chuck up some of the other things im gonna look to do to it shortlyish:

    1. Bit of work on the rims:
    From this_______________To this

    2. T-18 chrome bumper conversion- looks hot IMO - bit of work apparently though

    3. paint the rocker cover on the 4age as its slapped out and yuk. GOt a complete rocker cover and spark plug alley cover from a mate, so will just clean that one up (mates sandblaster) and give it a coat of paint. Tossing up what colour to go with on the cam covers though (spark plug alley colour will remain black)........
    Option A - standard look

Option B - shiny silver & black writing (with 16 valve in blue to keep with JDM)

Option C - nice metallic blue colour

Option D - red "wrinkle" paint

So they're my thoughts about where to go next with this little car.........feel free to chuck up your thoughts/opinions/experiences!

    Thanks

Last night i was bored and cause i've got the cast off my foot now ( ), i went out and did some work on the car. The ecu and wiring was all sitting in the front passenger's footwell, and the relay etc for the fuel pump in my footwell (only shorted the fuse once ). SO, i've poked the fuel pump stuff in behind the kicker on the drivers side which wasnt a problem. The ecu & wiring was a little more work purely cause of the bulk of all the wires, and the relay for the wires we hooked up. BUT, i managed to poke that stuff in behind the kicker (poking the relay through one of the holes in body) I ended up just sticking the ECU up behind where the glovebox is, and its sorta resting against the heater fan and some other shit up there. Aint going anywhere, which is good. Only thing is the glovebox is a little harder to shut, but some gentle force when its in position does the job, and wont hurt the ecu SO, the interior is now back as it was and looking stocker again! Just gotta sort out the airconditioning now and all will be sweet.

Oh, reason i didnt mount the ecu in the kicker was because i wanted to keep my front speakers.....gotta have the tunes

You wont get an idea of the wring and where it is, but heres a pic of the ecu "mounted" and in position:

Oh, also considering hosting and posting up a video of the first running of the 4age after the conversion (first "proper" running).....not that flash, but its comin straight out the extractors which was cool (and loud!). Anyone interested in that?
