what exactly is the issue?
i just did the conversion and found the easiest way to solve the issue using the 4ac alternator cos im making custom brackets. took 4ac alternator to local auto elec got them to match 4age 5pk belt pulley and just lengthen the wiring and dun!
what exactly is the issue?
got any pics of this???
Does the 4ac alternator make enough current to run a 4age. I would not of had thought so. In fact im almost sure it doesnt.
Not without mods atleast.
Insert witty comment here....
The 4A-C alternator is 45A and the 4A-GE one is 60A. Maybe there would be an issue with headlights on high beam, driving through rain with wipers on and subwoofer etc. But mostly the 4A-C alternator would be fine.
The easiest way is to use the original brackets, pulleys and belts off your 4AC. You only have to grind one bit off the bracket to make it fit. Very easy.
I thought there was only 5A difference in charge capacity between 4ac and 4age?
Either way, if the 4ac alt was ok with the carb engine, it should be ok with the EFI.
How much power does the computer + fuel pump + injectors actually dissipate?
having extreeme charging issues with this setup i tried 2 different alternators and 2 different regulators for some reason the regulators were swithching on and off (maybe overloaded?) anywho im runnign a 4age alternator now.
dude i run a 4ac alt and i want to switch to the correct driverside mounted setup. im having a hard time working out what i have to do.. do i just need brackets, pulleys and belts???
You need brackets, 4A-GE crank pulley, and 5 rib water pump pulley, and a 5 rib belt.
There are 2 basic styles of setup, RWD and FWD.
The FWD pulleys and brakets are sort of easy to find. Come on AE82, AE92 and 20 valve 4A-GEs. The alternator mounts high.
The RWD setup is best, a bit harder to find, but you can buy the parts new as I did. See the parts thread. (And RWD water pipes will fit better).
Then you can unplug your voltage regulator and wire up the alternator with 3 wires. This would not take long for a auto elect. to do.
