Nah I think you'll be pretty right legalities wise, but just be careful that when it rains, they don't get wet.... I know someone who this has happened to.
Is there any problem like leagalities about mounting stuff on the fire wall. I want to mount my coil packs on the top bit of the fire wall and need to drill 4 little holes?

Keep it clean and you will have no probs. Seen it done and passed rwc easy.
Mount them to the lip that runs along the top of the firewall.
