large clearances, can cause low oil pressure. Worn oil pump, but also your gauge may be faulty.
when the car settles into a good idle right on 750rpm. sometimes the standard oil pressure gauge sits right on the lower line for oil pressure.but most the times it sits between the two lines in the middle meaning its got higher oil pressure.still in normal range. what could cause this besides the sender bein faulty?
oil gallery blocked?
cheers

yeah thats the thing the oil pressure seems high. not low
i would get a test oil pressure gauge and plug that straight into the side of the block, that way you will have an accurate reading of what the engine is doing and you dont ahve to rely on a 20 year old gauge to tell you whats going on. but your sender may also be inaccurate to.
also i would check:
the oil pressure regulator spring and valve as that may be stuck open allowing excessive amounts of oil through the lubrication system and causing high pressures
assuming your running a 4age without being told
oil pressures are:
@ idle 4.3psi/29kpa
@3000rpm 36-71psi/245-490kpa
ohh right.. read it again... a little on the high side...my bad..
what weight oil are you running? do you have excessive blow by?
sorry guys yeah ita a bluetop 4age.
its running 20/50w. which turned black in 3 seconds but thats cause it has just been put in the car and has been sittin on the floor i am guessin for a while. so i am gonna do a oill and filter change and see if it helps.
yeah its a got a little blow by run alright though.
cheers for your help its appreciated
the engine has been sittin not the oil
i wouldn't be concerned with oil a little on the high side... on the low side i'd be worried!![]()
perhaps the relief valve isnt opening properly....that would cause the high pressure
You in brisbane? I'll rebuild you an oil pump if you want...
