if that fails try a A40D i think there called... out of an RA60 with 22re.. i had one with some of the finns flattened off (higher stall) that was behind a cammed up 18RG.. very torquey motors.. and had the stall at about 2900... not much but the converter was only touched a little bit... the guy had the 18RG in a KE55 or something like that, and told be it used to almost lift the front left wheel.. he said the suspension was at full extension when it left off the converter!
what are you expecting to run??? you should even consider a 3pd auto from somthing like an RA40 celica.. they came with a 2.0 liter engine.. and actually had a tow ratingso they might handle more torque than the 4a 3pds auto.. but for all i know they could be the same box!!!
the box i got they also used behind some 6 cylinder cars i was told, going to see a mate that works at a toyota wreckers to see if i can sort something out if i cant ill get a flywheel made. I hope to run mid 12s all depends on how the converter works out might have to play around with it a bit, my workshop said when all is sorted should run low to flat 12s, hopefully i can lift the the left front wheel

From what I hear, the auto in Australian AE71s is a Trimatic unit. So that may open up possibilities for upgrading the internals with parts from old Holdens/Fords.

if that is true then you could do just about anything couldnt you? I guess that begs the question; anyone ever seen a ae71 in japan with an auto?

from what i can see the flex plate hasnt got the bolts for the fly wheel going through it so i should be able to use it
Yeah, I stuffed up. And forgot what a flexplate was. I think it should be fine.

thats cool its good to get all the info. the only problem i have now is the dick who put on the fly wheel rounded a couple and now i cant get them off. any suggestions?
