Economy 16v

just curious as to the norm in regards to fuel economy.

JDM 16v, no oxy sensor and regular unleaded (normally will be using good fuel, just had a tank full so i used it)

don't know exactly how much fuel i used yet but guage is dead on empty and i got 412 klms

reasonable?

by getting some other peoples postings up i can guage whether the o2 sensor plays much part in fuel economy, and if so the difference it can make.

I do believe o2 sensor does affect economy as it has its part in high way lean out.

Seriously though, I have never checked on my AE86, but on a full tank of fuel in the Peugeot 307 that I had, with a 55litre tank I would get about 550 kms with very gentle, never over the speed limit (no really) city driving.

I can't remember what capacity the AE86 tank is but I reckon 412kms of no doubt spirited driving is pretty good.

I never had an O2 sensor on my 16 valve for years and when I connected it up there was no obvious difference in economy, in that I wasn't filling it any less frequently. I think if you were doing a lot of highway driving it may have some benefit.

Bear in mind, the UK AE86 GT's never had an O2 sensor fitted from the factory.

i just did the same thing for the first time seeing how much the car eats. i couldnt go to nearly empty cause my fuel gauge is less than reliabe. i got 380km from 28 litres. so around 7 to 8 litres per 100km's

Genuine tank capacity is 50 litres

I thought speinters had like 38 litre tanks or something.
I average about 10L to the 100kms with the old 4AFE, including a bit spirited driving. The economy engine without the performance and without the economy...

put in 37L today.

so 37L got me 412klms

8.98 L per 100klms.

pretty sweet.

using 98 octane fuel now too and i was surprised that it actually made a difference. not in the performance stakes, just idles much smoother and doesn't ping any more.

should ban myself it was a ghey question

hmm i honestly couldnt tell ya mine, ive neve had over half a tank and only put more in if the light comes on, (which i know i have plenty of time to fart around before i fill up before its empty), i always reset the odometer so its always on zero for some reason and i dont take not of it anyway, all i can tell ya is its got 130039kms on it lol. and it has a 48L tank, but apparently a (ive never done it myself ) you can t ever seem to get more than 40 from dry in becasue of restrictors and stuff.

If im sensible i get a fair way in it, its better than the 20L/100km the range rover gets on the freeway on petrol and like 25L/100 on gas.

I fill mine when the pickup pump starts running dry on harder cornering and i've never managed to get more than about 37 litres in it! i always thought that the tank was meant to be a 40L capacity? I've only ever had the light come on once tho. It was just after i bought it and i didn't realise what the clicking noise was!! The lift pump was running dry just taking off from the lights or braking so it must have been getting pretty empty!
