    Hey all, slowely making my way to 86 strut goodness. Just trying to determine if i can use the brake pads that came with my calipers. I have no idea what brand they are, and theyre all sorta dirty and rusty

    I have no idea when it comes to pads, never changed a set before so yea.

    Basically, the pads in this picture, is there any reason why i cannot use them (used up, past their used by date etc?)

    [attachment=10530:attachment]

    Cheers

    my rule is if the braking material is thinner than the backing plate (steel bit) then they are due to be changed. in my own cars though i know you normally get another 5000klms out of them. so they should be sweet for 5000klms IMO

    my last set of pads lasted until the loud scratches and sparks... there was nothing but backing plates left.. i wouldnt recommend that to anyone... grab a set of cheapies from supercheap.. like 30 bucks a set.

    whats so special about project Mu pads?

    also heres another tip, whatever you do dont throw away the steel thing that clips on the back of the pad, you need to swap that over.

    ^^^theyr like 500bux a set

    get some ferodos from supa cheap, they are like 35bux, but if not, hold your breath and scratch up the surface that goes to the rotor and rub it in a figure 8 on concrete, not bitumen to clean the pads, then put em in. (hold your breaht as it is possible they have asbestos in them. or dont do it if you are worried.
