they are weep holes, basically when your water pump is fucked it will leak here, no they r not suposed to be blocked up, all cars waterpumps have them.
Hey guys, the other day while cruising about, my heater hose burst coz the outlet on the water pump was corroded and sharp, so i swapped my water pumps with one fromanother engine i had, and i made my own gasket and cleaned the surfaces and all that and put it back on the car and filled with water.. it leaked, at first i thought it was the gasket so i got some silicone and made myself a gasket with that... it still leaked, so i had a look at where it was leaking from and there was a random hole on the pump, which it was trickling out of, but this hole was on all my water pumps,
my question is, what are these holes for, because i sealed over the bottom one only to find that it now leakes out the top as well,
WTF??
i need to know if it matters if these holes are sealed or not, like what is the normal occurence for this water pump??

cheers, i knew they were meant to be ther and all that, but i didnt exactly know what they were for but then i kind of figured that it shouldnt be leaking from there in the first place so i quickly realised that it was fubarred, plus some of the fellas from SD.com told me that as well
