fit if it hasnt been lowered too much..... they sit pretty much flush .. its the perfect size.. will need to give the gaurds a massage when its dropped though...

you know how you have 195s on a 8 inch rims dose it sit normal or dose the side wall on a huge angle?

depends on the height of the tyre

195/50 will, not a huge angle but it will be obvious

195/55 not as much as it doesn't get stretched as much as a lower profile tyre. the taller sidewall adds to the overall width of the tyre

the 50/55 is the aspect ratio, ratio of sidewall height to tread width e.g

195/50 50% of treadwidth = aspect ratio works out to be 97.5

195/55 55% of treadwidth = aspect ratio works out to be 107.5

    add that to the width

    50 series >> 195 + 195 (2 x 97.5, as you have 2 sidewalls) = 390

    55 series >> 195 + 215 (2 x 107.5 ) = 220

so the 55's would be easier to fit as they have a greater overall width, when i say overall width i mean if you were able to lay a tyre out flat as in tread and sidewalls out flat. therefore don't stretch as much thus resulting in less of the stretched look. reverse for the 50's they have a lesser overall width so they will indeed stretch more resulting in 'the look"

pretty sure its called "wrap" could be wrong though

that formula thingo above i just made up, it make sense in my head. but then you get different sidewall's per different manufacturer, you have to factor in square sidewalls as opposed to concave (rounded ones) most of these factors blow my theories out of the water

BUT Hibino ran 195/50's on 8.5's on the front of his 86 and 195/55's on 9's out the back all the pics i've seen show very close to equal amounts of tyre stretch, which gives me some faith in my theory

yeh there is stretch..... not crazy stretch but it does look nice....... Im going down to 50's when I get new tyres, or even 45's as I saw some nice 195/45/15's at a shop the other day for a great price......... just trying to work out if they will be able to be fitted to 8" rims...........
anyone know if this would be possible....?

    it would be do-able

its just finding someone to do it

tyre shops have this shitty blue book that basically lets them know the minimum width and profile tyre that can go on a particular size rim.

    my tip

just don't tell them they are 8's
