    hey guys,
my sprinter died on the way home from the coast this morning, it was a problem that got gradually worse over the course of the 1 hour drive, and i got 10 minutes from home and its completely dead now

basically i can start the car, it will idle at about 200rpm, and if i apply any throttle at all it will stall, lots or a tiny bit.. and i had alot of trouble driving it just before it died, cause i was so close to home i was trying to limp it, if i let the revs drop below about 4000 it would just die and stall, but above that it seemed to go ok, but only on about half power..

i think it is fuel related, fuel pump still works, it appears to be sparking fine, everything else works, just the throttle goes all mushy and it coughs and splutters, very similar to if i try to start my car and i have the fuel pump immobilised...

any ideas of what wiring it could be? i have checked the immobiliser is working fine and is off, what can i check wiring/computer wise?

thanks in advance for any advice

btw it is a blue top 4age, factory computer.

i have a vl turbo fuel pump, no surge tank (just have to keep it above 1/4 full so it doesnt surge)

i thought i may have got a bad batch of ultimate and i got a clogged fuel filter, cause i didnt run it low enough to suck up the crap from the bottom of the tank..

and when i start it you can hear the pump kick in like normal, then go off when pressure is built up..

Do you run a lift pump or just the VL one. I also run the VL turbo pump but have a lift pump and surge tank. The Vl turbo ones are high pressure low volume pumps. You should really have a lift pump (low pressure, high volume) to supply your main one.

Id recommend a new fuel pump then. If its in a easy to reach location try giving it a 'love tap' while idling.

check the fuse near the ecu that belongs to the relay that runs the fuel pump on ignition. beleive it or not justo it happened to me too when i was degreasing the engine bay at the car wash, somthing shorted and fucked the relay when it would run for a little while and then die

where did u check the fuel pump for pressure?
u pull the line off at the motor or just listen for the pump to turn on?

also replace the fuel filter, never hurts..

did u run out of fuel b4? say in the last few tanks?
