i dont use one, but i have looked into it, the software is pretty darn expensive.

best way is prolly just get a cheap GPS from JBhifi or something, i work there and we have a few good ones for about 500$, dont have to worry about the laptop as its all in the one little unit.

another option though, is if you have a fancy ass phone (nokia n73 or something) you can get a little bluetooth gps transponder thing. and then you can "obtain" tom-tom gps software (---> bittorrent<---) and you get all the maps and stuff on your phone. i think the gps dongle thing is under 200$

I'm running a Street Pilot 2 GPS Navigation system in my 86. It comes with a plug in for your lighter, but i hardwired it in from behind the dash.

My phone's a Sony ericsson s700i. Was goin with the laptop idea mainly due to the fact i can watch movies and stuff as well as the gps setup. Might have to have a search on torrent sites to see what software i can find.

I've got a Garmin StreetPilot c320. its freaking handy, aboot 600ish, but if u were going to get one today I'd recommend the StreetPilot c510, as it tells you street names, like reads them out to you, itd be a bloody handy as the main flaw i've found with the 320 is that I'll say "turn left in 200m. then when your turn comes up, it'll say turn left, even tho there is 3 streets very close together, i found this to be a huuuge pain in the ass in Brisbane, as you can look down at the screen to read what street your ment to turn up. so yeah, 510 FTW in my books, i wouldn't really recommend a lap top ey, too big and bulky esp if u plan on having people in your car.
