Well i was going to suggest a 3sgte but you cant in your state (feel for you mate!) maybe just a 3sge Beams or something? Can buy quite a few aftermarket bits for the 3sgte and just the ge also i beleive. Im still on the thought that capacity = power... ie a 2 litre will always make more power than a 1.6 (No offence 4a guys!!!) so what can you fit?! Hell if a Gen 3 v8 will fit, how far you willing to go?!?....

    ??? You have a 4AG currently in it ???

Why do you want to change the engine?

With a good lsd and good suspension + driving abilities, a 4AGE in a hachi is a great platform for drift, and should be able to slide very well on just about every track. At a beginners level, power is just a substitute for skills.

What suspension and lsd does your car currently have?

These are the two main areas that will gain you enjoyment in a hachi, and are the key to slide them well.

EDIT: Just read your above post.

Definitely don't waste any cash on power then, invest in some decent front coilovers and better brakes, and some good rear shocks and springs and rear swaybar. A locker is a good lsd subsitute on a tight budget, otherwise a good mechanical LSD can set you back anywhere than 1000-2000 for a complete setup.

With those mods, your 4AGE will come to life.

My car (pictured in my sig and avatar) has/had a complete suspension and lsd setup and a 4AGE making 70rwkw. Of course not being hugely powered, it was definitely plenty to have fun with and progress my skills. In those two pics i'm sliding in 4th gear at around 130km/h.

But yeah, in short an AE86 thrives on a good suspension and lsd setup over power. Search around this site, there is a world of good info here on how to setup a hachi for drift.

Kings are complete junk. Also unless your car is japanese imported AE86, it will not have a factory lsd, only an open centre. Not even all japanese AE86's came with lsds.

    Read my above edited post.
