    Unhappy

hey every body, im new here, i dont have an AE86 but i do have an oldschool toyota classic just the same. i just recently picked up a rare 1978 celica GT 5spd in almost mint condition for $500. i plan on trickin it out for drift and ill be picking up a silver top 4age at the end of this week. i also have a mkIII supra, as far as experiance with engines go i have years of it with the supra but now that im playing with the new toy im not sure how to approach the swap from the stock and carburated 20r. im just looking for all the info i can gather about the 4age silver top engine so i can do the swap quickly and effectivly, figured this is a great place to look. thanks for any help you can give me... oh, they call me turbo by the way... if you want pics of either just let me know too!

How do you trick your ride out for drift?
78 Celicas weigh like 1100 or 1200kgs so a 4AG isnt going to be the greatest engine choice. 3SGs, CAs and SRs probably wouldnt be much harder coversions and have lots more power. Consider the options first but its your car.

is that an early RA40 (round headlights?) and is it a genuine GT?? eg 18RG, P51 gearbox, F series LSD diff.. some even had power windows..

if it is, i will buy it off you!!!!!!!!!

but the 20R 2.2? doesn't sound like a GT sorry to say... can i see some pics?? and a pic of the VIN plate? either post pics or email to

its an RA42, yes round head lights, says GT all over it, 20R engine, w50 tranny (4age apparently bolts up to it but from what ive read it wont handle the power from it), no lsd... yet, crank windows.
heres the links to the pics

vins kinda hard to read but its RA42-001432

if thats your opinion of almost mint condition... i'd hate to see what a shit condition car looks like..

anyway.. W50 will handle a fiar bit of power i have run around mnay years with a slightly tuned 18RG with a W50 with no dramas.. however recently it snapped a selector fork, bit of tig fixed that up!.. and they do not come anywhere close to 'bolting in'

they are not a big fan of high RPM.. and pull out your diff center and bin it.. it is a 3.58 open center.. possibly the worlds worst final drive ratio you could have infront of a 4AGE..

but best of luck with it!
