i dont think youve really checked out proper hot rods man. there is no way in the world, that the most intricate builds by the most talented people are not mostly hot rods. a kit car can, and usually is, pretty rough underneath by hot rod standards.
if you care to, go check out the hamb.
i do agree though to a point about how actual 40/50/60s rodders would find what some people do amusing.
