true i should consider RWD. i just want it to be flash so it cathes some eye attention. not really fussed about drifting with it as yet. but some decent performance would be nice.

hey man, yeah get a toyota as a first car

if your not to fussed on drifting i sudgest you get a KE70, so you will become fussed

nah for FWD's i would recommend an AE92 rather than an AE82. try and get the CSI(?) one (4afe engine) or if your budget can stretch it get an SX one (4age). and then take that 4age and stick it in a ke70...where it belongs..

    haha nah just kidding

I'd get a AE71 coz the 4AC are unbreakable, cheap and plenty around for under $1500. Just dumping it and putting rims on it looks good enough for me. If you decide to go drifting later on a least you don't have to sell a AE92 to get a AE71.

Again with the KE70s and AE71s.........
Seriously just change the clubs name already!

    I like this quote:
for a AE86 maybe but for KE70s or AE71s I don't think so, or is takumi tax starting on them too?

As for the first car get something to learn in.
Dont worry about power for now, learn how to drive first then start thinking about power later.

If you want FWD drive then get an AE82 twin cam or a AE92 sx they are a good first car, cheap parts, dont drink much and they drive not bad. Twincam.org is probably your best bet for those type of cars.

If it HAS to be RWD drive then see if you can get a stocky Aus spec AE86 cheap, learn abit in that and once you get bored, install a lsd, work on the suspension and brakes, then when you get bored of that slap in a 4age, and when you get bored of that SR20 or F20C it

Dude if I were you and it was my first car I think the AE82 is a good choice. Lower it and put a nice set of wheels on it and enjoy. Take the time to find out what you like and don't like and in a year or two move on to something you really want. That would be a sensible move as if we all remenber a few years ago and even more for some of us your first car will cop a fair bit of abuse and the odd bit of panel damage. Don't spend mega dollars just yet. Wait till you are more experienced and have more cash.
That is my words of wisdom for today.

    Cheers

hmmm, well I have two of those, both twincams, you're new to cars i suggest get an AE82 twincam hatch, better suspension, 4 wheels disks, and of course efi, I have wider tyres on one of them (205 woot), and it feels great, it is solid on the road, not twitchy compared to other fwd cars, id go out on a limb here and say they are the best fwd car of that era and even some new ones its better imo, yeas you can get kits etc, google, jetspeed, ssv, new style motorsports. You would be stupid to get a carby model tho, leave it standard, they have plenty of go for a learner, if you smash it, which you probably will, parts are cheap.

As for ae82/ae92, the series 2 ae92/3/4 had bigger brakes and a different upper strut moutns, apart form that they are more or less the same driveline wise, same gearbox, the ae9x claim 100kw compared to 86/88kw, but if someone tells you they can honelst tell the difference between the two, they are pulling themselves, the ae82 is lighter, and you may be able to find one with an ae92 motor, a little more go, but i wouldnt go out of my way to try and find one, you can get supercharged or 20v converted ones fairly cheap, but as a first car youd be better of with a good condition original one.

visit twincam.org, the fellow around here arnt ones to talk about FWD cars. The wiper hitting the bonnet can be fixed easy, and there are alot of cars out there with mush bigger problems (ie camira, x19, fuego)

And FWD cars still have diffs. You can kill yourslef in a a beetle, so you can definatly do it in a twinky

BUT. an AE86 is going to have way more potenital than any ae82/82 ever will have
