    Default Daily Streeter

This is my street car build thread.
The plan is to have a fun daily driver that i can take to the track every now and again. I'm not planning to drift this one, just AGH track days and circuit work at Barbagallo.

My canvas is an ADM, relatively rust free. Well it was when i bought it 3 or 4 years ago.

This is the car I did a front end swap with my track car to make it Levin front.

The sound deadening was stripped by the previous owner. I'll be putting it back in as I want this car to be as comfortable as possible. I'll have air-con, power steering, power mirrors(from my coupe), central locking and a decent stereo.
As for running gear, the motor will be a GZE (previously in the track car) with a sc14 hanging off the side. I love the sound/whine of the sc14, plus the extra torque/power wont hurt.
In the coupe, engine management was by a HKS f-con ecu, but that will have to go because you can't tune them in Aus. I've got a Haltech I'll use instead.
The gearbox is also from the track car, jap spec T50. It may be swapped for a W5_ eventually because I've got a 4a to W5_ bell housing.
Diff is a jap disc T series with TRD 2way LSD. Should make for some interesting wet street driving.(unexpected step-out)
Brakes up front will be Jap spec discs (from the track car) with slotted RDA disc up grade front and rear. Also some sporty brake pads.
The front end will get home made coil overs, and springs and shocks in the back with what ever sway bars pop up when its time.
A lot of the parts going into this car will be from what I've collected wrecking a few sprinters and most of the running gear that was in my coupe. I'm doing this as cheap as possible because most of my money is going towards the drift car.

I've settled on Red or Burgundy for color with 16's minimum for wheels.
These are my inspiration for exterior:

I think the black on red thing works really well. Red is easily my favorite color for Hachi's. Note there will NOT be any chrome rims. At most a chrome lip.

    More to come......

So far the T series is in as well as the front X-member and power steering rack.
I've stripped it down to a bare shell pretty much, and now the rust is popping up in the usual spots.

I've treated it with rust converter, then I'll clean it with a grinder and weld it up.

...and while trying to get at some rust along the windscreen seal I cracked the windscreen. So I removed it and found the rust to be pretty bad. Just as well as I cracked it.

I've given it a clean with a wire brush on a drill and rust treatment.

Engine bay is stripped and degreased for a flick of black paint. That's next to do.

Also noticed that the car has been in a couple of minor bingles. One in the front right and one in the right rear.

I changed the windscreen demister plastic as the old one was sun effected.

    That's all for now.

Finally had some time to work on me car and had some real progress.
    Also had some parts come.
One rebuilt w58 box bought off the forum, and and sc14 supercharger.

Last weekend I got stuck into the engine bay to get it ready for paint. I painted it on Monesday. It was a quick job but looks good enough. I also primered the top windscreen seal to prevent it from rusting again.

Today I got the motor out to start on the sc14 conversion.

I got the instructions off TOYMODS. Big thanks to 'ADSPORT' for the really simple to follow instructions.
Here is the link for anyone who is interested.

I knew there was a motor under all that wiring. And first up was to remove the sc12 charger.

Armed with my trusty instructions it was time to start grinding and cutting. Refer to the above link.

...and after a couple of test fits and grinding, the sc14 was in. Its a tight fit but pretty neat all things considered.

Just have to finish the top bracket and get some groves machined into the front pulley and it's all done. Then I gotta figure out where all the hoses go
Kind of sorted out the wiring... and soon the air-con unit, pulled out of my coupe will go in too.

I like this part when things start going back onto the car. I will hopefully get more done this weekend.

I like the sounds of this build, aside form the size in rims. Why the size? What rims were you thinking of?

I really like the look of that Levin in the pictures also.

Yeh man, gonna paint it myself. Hopefully the paint turns out better than the driftcar

Well, I like the race car look. And I think bigger wheels will suit the body kit better and 'modernize' the car a little.
    I'm thinking these off ebay.16x8's.

Or possibly the Rota wheels like Josh. 17x9 and 17x8.
Not trying to copy, just trying to keep the oldschool feel with a modern look.
Plus they are really cheep wheels with dish, and I gotta have DISH
I really hope no one tells me to go buy a S13 if I want something more modern....
Oh and Marvis, I take it you mean the Levin with the Watanabes?
