would it be possible to import a KE70 or AE71 from japan? can they be complied in australia? i was talking to a friend and he wants a ke/ae and wants a reasonably good one and wanted to know if importing is an option. and do all japan ke's have twin headlights or is is a specific model?

i was going to ask imports101 but if anyone has anyone else they think would be better then please tell me

I don't see why not, people still import ae86's no worries.

The 15 year rule is still basicaly in effect anyway.

im pretty sure some KE's had the square lights as well, not sure on models. but i do know the "DX" ones have the round lights. tell your mate to get a 2-dr one. they are the coolest.

not sure what model this ke70 is, but its pretty cool

theyre possible to get in, the trouble is getting one to bring over, im told theyre nearly impossible to get a hold of or get parts for over there, theyre so accient compared to wahts going around these days..

jsut for trivia purposes, the pictur posted above is a 2bx model, the twin headlight four door version is known as a te71 and the two door model are known as the ke70 dx.

piks to make it easier for everyone,

They can come in under waht was known as the 15 year old rule or now known as pre 1988 rule. Any car that year and before can be brought in and complied just like doing a defect check in your state.

You can get these in New Zealand, Europe, America (amrican car importer maybe?)

For the money, If your importing you might be beter off to get an ae86 from Japan. try the usual importers eg. , prestige, jspec etc.

the DX photo from above is also known as a 2 door sedan. I was looking at importing one that had everything done, then i did converions from jap money to our money and allmost fell off my seat. Trying to find any e7 corolla (ke,ae,te) under 10k australian is almost impossible.

well in japan itself everything i found was like 8k+ just for the car, then you have shipping, taxes, importer broker fee etc. I found one or two cheaper, but they were rusted as fuck aparently.
