lookin good man!
Well actually it looks abit shit, no worse than my car, but it will get there dude
If ya need a hand or anthing just give us a yell, good to see you have a toyota![]()
....But it has a heart of, erm, Iron.
Ok, well I bought this thing last night. It is a bit of a shitheap, but it was cheap, and should be fun.
Its a 1984 AE71 Spirit, at some point its copped the world's shittiest respray and a bodgy 4AGE conversion (which itself has had a pretty low rent rebuild at a couple of points in its life). I'd say its a 60kw 4AGE, lol.
Amongst the highlights are the early KE70 front end, tacho dash and spirit wing, 5 slot 14x6" mags with pirelli and michelin rubber (thats just the rear wheels!), and what appear to be front wheel drive extractors with an ingenious collector conversion which has to be seen to be believed. Interior is actually quite clean and liveable. Suspension appears to be all stock.
The clutch is borked, but I got another complete new clutch kit for it so I care not a jot. Was a bit sketchy crawling up hills coming home with it revving its nuts off to try and keep some momentum, in 3rd or higher ANY throttle opening past about 1/8th made the clutch slip...
Starter motor is stuffed, heater not connected, temp gauge doesn't work, and neither do the reverse lights.
The plan is some better struts, short kyb inserts and AJPS springs for the front, falcon springs and sierra shocks for the front, and a weldy. All after its regoed of course. I'm not really going to get going on it for a month or so as I won't have time, but hopefully it will make some drift days later this year.

Cheers mate, will yell out if I need a hand.
Certainly won't win any beauty prizes but the motor is willing and it has surprisingly little rust (although rear guard lips etc are a bit sad). Sounds cool too, I think its even louder than my skyline which is pretty loud...
good stuff man!! get it to the track for a thrash then i wont be the only one with a shitter 4age KE lol
hey, thats an awesome buy, well done.
with a couple of $ spent here and there it should b a good thing, i say leave the paint looks tuff.
if i ever get mine goin ill have to come down and check it out.
Well put an AE92 starter in it this morning. Starts perfect now, runs good, slight miss when its getting up to temp, but otherwise good.
Dodgy arse wiring though, fuck, what a mess. Basically a whole ae92 engine bay loom in there AND the ae71 loom, grafted together.
i fucking hate messy wiring!
looks like it might have a celica radiator?
a bit of work and a home respray and it will be a good daily
Yeah, that's an ST162 Twin core rad, good shit.
Pics of said interesting extractor collector?
Cmon man, i wanna lol.
Car looks.. well... Car SHOULD be nice when you're done with it.
You can have any brew you want... as long as it's a Datsun / Corolla / What is that?
looks good mate, whats the fit like on the st162 celica radiator? ive heard good reports about this radiator, was gonna get one when i go 4age, how wide is it? does most of the radiator get airflow through the front of the car?

I don't have a pic, but what they've done is cut a set of fwd extractors of at the bottom of the 4->2 collectors, welded on a shaped and drilled piece of flat steel, which has a piece of chopped off 2.5" bend welded to it to point the exhaust out the back. Then it steps straight down to 2.25", as in 2.5" stops, 2.25" starts, no taper...No oxygen sensor either which is a bit odd.
Add in some ugly ugly welding.
Temp gauge isn't hooked up but yeah, its a big radiator. I think it will be more than up to the job.
I'll have an oil cooler on soon, the fittings are there but they've just plumbed directly from the adaptor to the sump with a bit of hose.
Its a pretty wide radiator, its mounted on some simple L brackets, seems to get reasonable flow.
