There is a topic in tech articles on the rear setup going on are the moment but thought it best to ask here.

Now i know people run sierra this, and AU that and monaro and hilux stuff.
I'm not sure weither its off the front of the donor car or the rear,
Nor how much to cut off the springs,
what the spring rates will be after the grinding,
and what people do in the front for a cheap setup, shox and springs ei. falcons alround ( is that rears all round or front in the front and rears in the rears, I'm not sure)

This topic does my head in, as i'm sure it will/does the for person who has to hold my hand and walk me through it.

Answers will hopefully help me sleep at nights cause thats all i can think about
kidding but i do need answers

    Cheers QUINN

Its now 2:51am hope i don't sound like a tool

you can use the same ford springs for the front as the rear in a ke70, just cut one ford spring in half, for shocks you can use mr2 sw20 front shocks but you will need a spacer

but the best thing to do that will save you the money in the long run is to just get proper shit from the beggining

So are they the rear ford springs that you use? and I thought it was the rear SW20 shocks that you use in the front.

    Amen.

You can save a lot of money by going down the cheap path, but you also need to know what you're doing. The easiest thing to do, if you are asking this question in the first place, is to buy good gear. AJPS sells great gear, whether you are out for drifting or just looking for good handling.

Here's a good writeup on a good setup for a Sprinter:

David is truenosedan on these boards, PM him or he might even drop into this thread if you are lucky. This is a much better way to go than trying to guess rates with chopping springs and playing with second-rate gear, especially if you are serious.

Best bet is to ring Lawson, 0407716089, and tell him what you want. Just tell him what you want to do with the car, and he will give you some very good advice and cheap parts

Seriously, he is THAT good. Even my mother loves him. though apparently, for various reasons.

    Cheers,

I was thinking cheap because, when my engine goes in, my saggy old stock stuff will be really crap for drift, I'll be looking at a coilover setup later i just want something better then stock to test the car on when it makes its first outing.

I'm not interested in buying high end stuff that i'm not sure about before i can even see the areas that the car is seriously lacking. ei. I go and buy high end susp. and find that the locked diff is not up to the task (causing under steer) but i have no money left to buy a t18 and lsd cause i spent $2000 on a susp. when $500 to $1000 was all i needed to spend

So from the moment a cheap alround drift setup that will be my base for tuning is what I'm after. Until i find something in the area of my style of drifting, then I'll look into more expansive options.

My thoughts are to run falcon springs alround with the standard shox for the first outing, but I'm worried that having the same spring rates at all 4 corners may cause an unwanted effect.

I'm not just being a tight ass, but obviously money is a large factor.

I think this could be my biggest post.

i wouldnt run standard shocks with flacon springs, i did in the rear for about a week and had a huge amount of "hop" when i tried to slide, definately not something you want.

Mate, if you just get kyb excel g shocks and some 8 and 6 kilo springs you are only looking at roughly 1000 from lawson. You have a tight setup, you havent spent much, and also have a suspension package that you could resell when you go coilies.

    Just my view mate

    Cheers,

    Justin

You would think that cheap suspension setups are the way to go, but if you have an underpowered car (like mine) then get a decent setup and start having fun with it while saving for an engine upgrade, an LSD upgrade etc etc.

    and yes, Lawson ftw

if your gonna spend 1k for that, save an extra 500 bux and get greddy coilovers to your door for 1500.
