im getting an ae86 soon in good condition, stock australian model with 4ac carby, faded paint etc. Getting it for about $1200 running with nothing wrong with gearbox and motor. Im only 17 and dad is getting me into racing with this car, we are thinking of 4AGE smallport, T50 box, stripping all interior, putting in racing seat for driver, put massive camber on the front wheels and lower it (maybe coilovers), brake upgade, LSD, rollcage and 5 point race harness.

THE CAR WILL NOT GET REGISTERED OR COMPLIANCED. Also as an alternative i would be intrested in someone's ex race or track car with simular modifications that cannot be registered, Any suggestions in where to look for ex race cars or track cars?

Im from northern new south wales and looking at going to streeter by streeter on the goldcoast for most of the parts. Any information would be greatly appreciated. More intrested in buying a track car around $7000 as it would be easier.

    Cheers.

there was a race ae86 for sale for 20k a few days ago on forsale section.
Might i suggest as well that you drive it with some mild mods before you go all out on a full race.

Dont have that much money, I am only going to be using it as a track car, So i am not looking for anything that is not registered or complianced as it will be getting towed to the tracks and never driven on roads. Thanks man but a 4age isnt a big step up and its not getting turbo'd or anything. Cheers.

to get your car ready to race you will need at least 7k otherwise you will be breaking things all day long, also a 16v smallport wont be that competitive against 20v and 3s motors

16v owns drift, 20v owns grip.

    a 16v hybrid is a 1.6

thanks guys for the comments. yeah well i'll most likely put a 16v in it cause they are cheaper, not to worried about been competitive as the project wont be ready until next season and it will be my first year on a track and will have alot to learn dont mind coming last each race, might even use it to learn to drift.
What do you think i will be breaking? there isnt much power running through it, im not the best driver but im not to rough on the cars, 4age parts are relatively cheap. Gearbox's arent too bad and the motor's can hadle alot of abuse.

that car is not registered i believe, and if you want a good track ae86 expect to spend that much, sounds like someone hasn't done their research.
