I maybe interested, just wondering roughly how much and how long would they take to make ?
Hi guys,
Just bought a Sprinter & I've noticed that when I give it a rev, the whole engine moves from side to side a lot. It looks as though it has tired mounts. I want to get solid alloy engine mounts made as I recently drove a car with solid alloy mounts and it felt mad. When you rev it, the car moves instead of the engine & you can feel what the engine is doing. I love the feel of this & I'm speaking with fabricator to get some made. I know that there are other hard mounts made but I like solid metal ones made. These mounts also transfer more power to the rears as energy isn't lost in moving the engine side to side. It also makes the accelerator feel more responsive.
Would anybody want some made up for them? It would help me to keep costs down.
Cheers.

Sweet. We'll I'm gessing about 4-5 weeks to make them. I just want to know whether to get more sets made up when I get mine made.
Thanks for the response.
theres a reason they dont make solid mounts.
you should know your product before you go and sell it.
Why don't they make solid mounts?
We always test products we sell & I wouldn't sell the engine mounts before they have been tested.
Thanks.
way to much vibration things will rattle loose and break.
Ok, I thought you had some sort of scientific explanation. It is true that there is much greater vibration etc. & these should only be used on cars that are set up to vibrate.. Nismo make solid alloy mounts for SR20's & all RB's and these are used on a huge amount of street cars.
Thanks.
no scientific explanation needed just common sence, nismo and that prolly make solid mounts with rubber /urethane inserts for some cusion.
cars arnt ment to vibrate, vibration kills things.
Nismo also make solid alloy mounts. I have some sitting in front of me right now. I am putting a set of alloy mounts in my 86. I know of customers with them in their Hachi's & they love them. I know that there is increased vibration & if your car is stock & you drive it around everyday then I would suggest that you don't get them. There are many companies that make solid mounts for many engines. These are usually designed for track cars. My fabricator has made them up for many 4A's before & i was seeing if anybody wants a set to bring the cost down for all of us.
Good Urethane mounts don't allow too much engine movement, but provide good dampening and doesn't allow the transfer of too much vibration to the chassis.
I'd be more interesed is solid machined Urethane mounts. For a machinist...its the same deal as making alloy mounts you obviouslyjust need to buy blocks of Urethane.
