never mind it's a stupid idear 2ZZ-GE is not bullet proof![]()
I was just wondering if there is a RWD gear box available for the 2ZZ-GE and would there be anything else stoping me from putting it into a ke70 I just want to know if it is possible
Links to the motor I'm talking about

I will be putting a 2ZZ-GE into a clubman or something in about 10 years time. I say go for it.
It will help if you can weld aluminium and use a milling machine, because you sort of have to make your own bellhousing and engine mounts etc. But some guy on Toymods did it and says its easy. Start with the bellhousing off your W55 or whatever your using, and cut some off it. Make a 20mm adapter plate and either bolt it or weld it onto the old bellhousing. May need custom clutch etc.
Doing a search... people are saying use the complete Toyota ECU and door lock remotes etc. Complex security system.
Hook it up to the Toyota/Lexus Inteligent Tester II and see if you can change the point where the big cams cut in. Because as is they have a very narrow powerband, hard to use on the street.
there is an off the shelf rwd belhousing, joins onto a sierra box I think. Anyway I had a thread on this on toymods a while back. I should do this conversion in my sprinter.
30kw club
If it's easy that's good but how good is a 2ZZ-GE anyway I've read that there not really a tuff engine I'm just looking for alternative engines other then a 4ag has to be 4 cylinder Toyota engine though
125kw? how much do toyota performance 4 bangers put out these days? and 1.8L i would that thatd be a bit of fun
on Wikipedia it says that they put out 180hp 134kw 7600rpm but the 2ZZ-GE in the Corolla Sportivo is 141kw@7600 and 181N·m Torque due to noise regulations.
quote from wikipedia
(Toyota recalled them for a flash of the ECU to up their output to put them into the more lenient "sports car" noise category). The Corolla Compressor and Lotus Exige S add a supercharger to achieve 225 hp, while the Exige 240R's supercharger increases output to 240 hp.![]()
I have given the odd Corolla Sportivo ZZE123 and Celica a bit of a thrash. Only short drives in new or customers cars. An apprentice begged me to take him for a spin once when the opportunity arrose in a customers car. May have got airborn not sure, and yes the ABS works.
To start with, they drive like a normal Honda or Toyota. But you end up stalling the car a few times due to the light flywheel, and getting used to the clutch. You can drive around town in 1st and 2nd gear if you want, just let it rev to 6000rpm. Still, feels like a good normal car. Then on the open road, keep it in 2nd and let it rev. Big cams switch in at about 6000rpm and thats when it all STARTS! Some very fast acceleration then on the rev limiter at about 8200rpm, depends on car. Very good power, but have to keep it reving at over 6000rpm and under rev limiter = narrow band. 6 speed gearbox, but it would benifit with a 10 speed or lower final drive ratio. And I would want the big cams to come on earlier.
I love it, the most like a motorbike.
180hp ~ 140kw at flywheel.
A couple of young white collar Toyota executives drove a pair of Celicas at the Bathurst 24hr race back when they were a newer car, and did very well. Won their class I think, only stopped to change oil filter and brake pads.
i think i have found a rwd gear box for the 2ZZ-GE the 4gr-fse engine out of the lexus is-250 uses the same 6-speed gear box as the 2zz-ge for the 4wd version's but they also came out as rear wheel drive so a rear wheel drive gear box for the 4gr-fse should bolt onto a 2ZZ-GE just think 1.8lt twin cam vvtl-i 6-speed in a ke70but i don't know if this is true so it may not work

i was thinkin about doin this to a sprinter ages ago, but im guessing the engine will cost a bit tho
