If you gus are running a gze that was origionaly running a map sensored ecu (8.9:1 compression ratio) i have made a safe 170rwkw at 16psi and the engine took a thrashing UNTILL boost spike from dogee external wastegate to 19or 20psi first melting 3 pistons then finally cracking block and blowing headgasket.
my engine was running stock everything enginewise except for rwdjdm intake manifold. Im just giving a warning for all you guys looking for big power from stock gze's if you are running high boost make sure you are running the low comp AFM gze (8:1 compression ratio) as in my unknowledgeable days i smashed a good GZE. cheers.

why blame compression? was your ECU tuned for 20PSI?

seems to me it may have leaned out, actually it looks like you were runing a standard ECU.

i'd say if you are running high boost, TUNE IT!

bad luck by the way, hope the new engine lasts you longer

    Me too..

I see no logical reason why *slightly* higher compression means it can't be boosted up

It comes down to tune, how far the boost spiked, and the build of the engine .. compression in this case is nothing IMO

isnt the problem the due to the wastegate failing? ie. failing to control boost?

you even say u made a safe 170rwkw at 16psi
so its not the tune that killed your motor

what wastegate was it by the way? im guessing a china copy type gate?

What injectors where you using as the stds gze injectors would be close to maxing out at 170rwKW.
