Pan-hard rod strength+bush theory

I have heard one person say a particular jap pan-hard was no good because it ws too rigid, and hence it will cause the car to skip sideways easly. I know the bar can be as strong as anything and it comes down to the bush but is there a point where it is bad for traction?

I want maximum grip around a corner, should i have a stock bar with poly boshes? or a heavy duty cro-mo item with Heim joints, anyone got any idea?

you want maximum grip around a corner? get rid of live axle then, also make sure you run semi slicks.

that would make wheels skip a bit

RoadSailing: nice theory but I wont consider chopping the whole floor out of my car and spending about 6 months fitting a wrx rear end, I did previously but not anymore ,also this is a pure street car so no slicks for me

slippry: right now nothing, never got around to it. I have a 2 way in my shed though but I am unreluctant to install it. I might get myself a 1 way

My general feeling is the panhard rod should be as stiff as you can make it.

But maybe if you have solid ball joints on all 5 links, the rear suspension is geometricaly locked up and the car can't roll unless something else flexes. If that's happening, the inside wheel would tend to skip rather than the body roll.

I think I would like to try stock 4 links with rubber bushes, and panhard rod with spherical ball joints. The solid joints on the panhard would make drift more predicatable? And the stock 4 links would let the car roll, but some guys I know use only 3 links.

well said Jonny, because of the geomotry lock up problem I am not going to really use my top left trailing arm, as reocmended by Bill sherwood.

I am thinking I may just buy some Heim joints, make a strong as cro-mo bar and try it. If I dont like it and its better for drifting, then its not like I coudlnt sell it in no time.
