I will hopefully be selling some koni reds (non adjustable) for the rear soon
The Koni Reds I have ARE adjustable and have a fair range, as all the reds are I think. You just have to unbolt the bottom, compress the shock all the way, and turn it till you feel the keyway engage, then you have about 3 turns of adjustment. On full stiff was way too stiff even with the leaf spring on me KE55. I put them on full soft, and adjusted them up a little as they wore in. Part number was same as older commodore wagon I think.
ok so you can get commodore wagon koni reds all round and theyll fit the 86? which commo wagon specific?
I don't know what is available in each brand. Koni Red are available for most cars, and are adjustable if you unbolt them. Koni yellow are only made for some cars, the obvious choice sports cars, but are externaly adjustable.
If you want original length rear shocks, then order them for AE86 or AE71, TE72, AE95, TA22, RA23, AL25. They should all be the same shock, or near enough.
But most want a shorter shock. I like the dimentions of rear shocks for these cars: XT130, ST141, KE36, RA40, RA60, AE70 van. This is all the one shock, and will fit perfectly and be short also. About 80mm shorter extended length.
Or rear shocks to suit these cars: KE30, RT40, Commodore wagon (VB,VH,VL,VN) are also good but not as short.
For short stroke front inserts (used with spacer and some sorting out etc), try ordering for one of these cars... all slightly different lengths but right diameters and stuff.
ST162 Celica

AE92, USA spec
SW20 rear
^^ they are the common ones people use. Also:
SV11, SV21?, Holden Camira, MA61, Cressida etc front strut inserts would also work. Its up to you to do some cross referencing yourself.
SW20 rear ???
so sw20 rear shocks in a front ae86 strut ?
hmm interesting... I'll have to suss this out on the weekend, i'll get back to you after that
hmm rang around. sw20 rears are more expension than ae86 specified fronts. the commodore rears are around the same price. and couldnt find xt130 or st141 at all
you pay for quality stop being a tight ass and pay up
