i thinks its offially 4 5's of fuckall.
i cant tell the difference in pedal effort or pedal ravel between my old adm ae86 stuff and s13 det stuff. just a lot more fun befor fade kiks in and actually able to lock up![]()
has anyone ever considered the "Damage" that adding s13 gear to the front of a ae/ke does to the brake proportioning?
or even larger capacity calipers in general (rx7, corona etc)
ive had s13 CA calipers on my car for a few years now and havent noticed anything dramatic, but surely the proportioning has to change? and if so has anyon ever had any dramas with such things
just for instance i measured the CA and KE front piston size and found them to be within a few MM (i think i twas 39mm vs 42 mm?)

will measure brake pistons tomorrow. also, when i go to bleed the brakes it seems softer and doesnt go any hard. i have tried :
adm 86 booster with adm 86 master
adm 86 booster with s13 master
jdm 86 booster with jdm 86 master
they all feel soft. any ideas? im using cheapy castrol dot 4 fluid
the boost wont make any difference what it feels like when the engine isnt on.
it should be rock solid with engine off.
sounds like you getting some air in the system. and since all your setups appear to have simliar results (ie crap) what is your bleeding technique?
and brake fluid is brake fluid, so long as its not full of water any will do.
pumps
hold
open valve
close valve
repeat
May sound silly but I know multiple people who've done it (including me unforunately), but are the calipers the right way up?
The bleed nipple needs to come out at the very top of the caliper.
Any of the combinations you mentioned above should work without a super-soft pedal.

yeah, think everything right. i've found out that i need to bleed the brake master cylinder (thanks REDSPRINTER) so ill give that a go and let u know how it goes
Another Nissan/Toyota funny difference where Toyota comes out a bit better?
With the Nissan clutch system, I know you need to bleed the clutch master first or it will never work. There is a bleed nipple on the clutch master. No such problem with Toyota.
I have never had to bleed a Toyota brake master seperately. But if you wanted to have a go, you would just leave the fittings off (with a bucket under it), and keep pouring fluid in it I guess. Then screw the tubes back on.
i now have another problem about the brakes... currently using jdm booster and master
i bleed the master twice (i ran the hose into the res and pumped it to cycle the fluid and got rid of the air. i dont have a vice to bench bleed it) and its still soft, the rears have pressure but the fronts have to pressure.
also there is some kinda of hissing noise every time i step on the pedal, i've also blocked off the vaccum line on the booster.
If it's a bleed problem, you need to grab a mechanic to look over it. Someone that does this everyday.
