Thread: cold start question

    hey guys as it states my ae86 has problems starting in the morning as the cold start isnt hooked up because i run a microtech lt8. i was just wondering is there away around this, can you hook the cold start up to a switch or somthing along those lines. regards shaun

    You don't hook the cold start up as such. You just change the fuel correction vs water temp. I assume you already have a water temp sensor hooked up, because you need one.

    Use the hand controler and go to screen 20, which changes fuel injected with water temp. Make a curved graph so at operating temp, 82degrees it is +00%, and when cold 20degrees it is about +50% or something like that. You will need to do a few cold starts over a week to get it right.

    If you have a laptop, its exactly the same only you get to see the graph you make which is easier. With the hand controler you just have to scroll to either side and see one number at a time.

    Also have a look at screen 22, a similar graph for cold cranking.

    Screen 21 is a air temp corrector, you should not have to change that much if at all. All values should be 0% or only +5%.
