    Thumbs down

So i did a search, but didn't find what i was after and thought id state a thread so everyone can see the title and know whats in it!!!!!

    So questions:

i want i low front (and rear but wrong thread for it) suspension setup...
    options ive found so far...:
    - Front Coilovers: custom made (sleeve style using existing strut!) or expensive brand names!
    - shorten strut (cut it down) and use standard spring style
    - just use king springs super lows (more like super highs!!)
    - Cut front springs to a good height, then watch the road for bumps that will make them jump from there seat!!!!

ones that seem good are the coilover sleeve style, but coilovers will only but used (in my car) once to get the right height...

also spring rates....i think i want 6kg fronts and 4kg rears....use is a daily (70kms a day for work, then cruzing..), drift more than circuit/hillclimb!!

So any ideas Men and Women of AE86DC???

I will start a proper front sus article soon. Unless someone else wants to go through and find everything of value that has been said. Plus pictures and measurements of making coilovers would be good. Just to make it plain and clear to save all the questions later. I will take pics of mine soon, making another set.

Try here first up, I think it has some good ideas:

    General guide to spring rates:

Plug for my present car, great writeup by Glenn:

BTW: 8kg/6kg springs with shortened shocks is great as a daily driver. It can be fairly bumpy at times (nothing compared to a stiff TRD or coilover setup), it is a bit soft (nothing compared to stock!) but it still provides plenty of grip and is quite nice as a drift setup. Plenty of predictability in the slides, little hopping. Plus that setup (AJPS FTW) is fairly cheap, and good as a way of lowering the car and improving the suspension heaps without spending a huge fortune on it.

Possibly have a chat to Dave about setups, and see what one suits your style. Probably don't go down the cut springs route, as you will be driving it plenty, you will thank yourself!

BTW my car doesn't come with strut brace anymore

Don't forget Bill Sherwoods suspension page, to give you an idea of how all the components work together:

    Hope this helps!

8kg front, 6 kgrear is not a bit soft..... Many s13's run this sort of spring rate in heavier cars....
Proper circuit grip racers run springs considerably softer than 8 & 6, as this is far too hard for circuit.
8 & 6 is very good for drifting though

    front:
    9kg front springs
Kyb Agx Shocks – 4 ways adjustable
    T3 Camber tops
    Front strut brace
    Lock spacers.

    rear:
    7kg Springs
Kyb Agx Shocks – 8 ways adjustable
    T3 4 Link
    Rear strut brace

im running 9kg spings with stiff shocks for front (JIC coilovers) and cut falcon springs (aprox 6kg ive heard?) in the back with crappy ass stock rooted shocks.

the front is very stiff, but the shocks are extremely stiff as well, so it isnt too bad. although most people reckon my car is too bumpy (non hachi/ke70 enthusiastis)

pulling into driveways and goin over speedbumps is a pain, gota go nice and slow, but general driving is pretty good, gota try and avoid moster bumps. but if you hit one it takes it pretty well.

the back is pretty nice stiffness, but cause the shocks are crap it bounces alot, but 6kg seems to be pretty good for stiffness in the back.

i would not recomend 9kg for the front, go 8's. ive driven same setup as mine but with 8kg in the front and its alot more confortable. its only 1kg difference but appears to be alot more comfy.

    just my oppinion
