I welded up my s series in my sprinter and it only lasted 2 days then broke in my driveway the holes are very small and its hard to get tp the spider gears before i weld another one wrong does anybody know how to do it properly.
you arent trying hard enough
you using stick or mig?
give it a good blast with compressed air then just lay into it.
if stick, use thic rods and wind up the power
if mig, wind up the power
you want to stick the gears to each other good, then fill up the entire hole with weld.

So just weld till the whole thing is full and by the way im using mig.
basically, but make sure you get the gears welded together first, otherwise it will just break again.
hows your welding? you might be going blind, but just position the nozzle and give it heaps!
weld up the gears inside as much as u can.....fill with bolts and all sorts if u can then just fil it with weld.... one big solid chunk of metal and melted gears is what lockers are all about
sam did mine with an arc welder and just filled the windows completely been ok so far.
You're not trying hard enough. It works if you get everything in there nice and melted together.
