    Hi all,

REcently I just changed my shocks to KYB Excel G short strokes all round.
Ive had Lovell Super Low springs in em from when I bought the car.

Car felt ok after the shocks upgrade but lately I noticed it beig pretty bouncy humps in the road and pretty rough over humps.

I did a test today bu pushing down on each corner. The fronts FIRM as.
The rears dip quite a fair bit!~ Not much bounce, but dips too far for my liking. At least a few inches or so.. should be firmer than that right?

Ive ony had my new shocks for 2 months or so ?
Could my rear shockcs b gone already? Or should I look at getting new rear springs?

    thanks

If it bounces after pushing down on the car then the shock on that corner is shagged. Any more then 1 - 1 1/2 bounces (rise too high then settle) means the shock is on its way out, and will only get worse.

However if it dips lower than you would like it to, then stiffer springs would be the go.
You can have any brew you want... as long as it's a Datsun / Corolla / What is that?

    Thanks
Ill have to check it out again, but i think i need stiffer springs anyway.

My shocks are brand new too!

Any good springs to match my Kyb excel Gs?
And would i need to go all 4 corners ?

what kind of driving are you doing?

For daily, 6kg / mm front and 4.5 kg / mm would suit. Firm but compliant.

    ^^Noted....

6 and 5 = sweet set up for daily/hills and would be much harder than your current springs

Thanks for input. I'll prob be mostly daily driving, firm but comfortable.Thinking of TRDs.
    Any other suggestions?

Also what is 4.5 - 5kg in N/mm? I can work out how to convert it.

....in newton millimeters? no idea. isn't that used for measuring torque anyway?

only other measurement i am aware of for measuring spring rates is lb / mm

4.5kg is 250 pounds in the old terms.

torques a rotational force and yes its measured in newton metres usually.

but newtons (/m, /mm, etc.) is just a measurment of force.

    so it'd be (4.5kg * 9.8m/s) /mm so roughly (45Nm) /mm isntead of 4.5kg/mm ??

i dont know. its been so long since ive done maths n physics n shit.

despite what people say, Google really is useful.. 15 seconds of searching and i found this.

u have to first convert Kg/mm to lb/mm THEN from lb/mm to N/mm.

    4kg/mm = 39.29824561403509
    6kg/mm = 58.94736842105263

so as Woolshed said, its close enough to just multiplying the kg/mm value by 10.

edit: and yes Torque is measured in newton metres (Nm) NOT newtons per metre/millimetre (N/m or N/mm)
