hi, I'm contemplating putting a corona diff in my ae86, but not sure how hard or how hectic it will be. I was told that corona avanti models with the rear disc brake have close to a locked lsd of some sort (sorry if I'm wrong) I recently got a corona ST141 diff, I'm not planning to put that in my ae86 as yet but if possible I would like to.

are there any member who have been in this situtation or have tried fitting a corona diff on their AE86. if so can you please help me out, link/pics ect would be every handy :greenbounce:

It goes something like, the ST141/RT142 corona diffs are a borg warner unit not dissimilar to a KE70 borg warner diff. I have heard that these two are interchangeable. Adding to this, AE86 and KE70 diffs can be interchanged.

I do not understand the oxymoron that is locked lsd but I am quite sure no lsd is available for this borgwarner diff.

Short answer: don't bother, not worth it. it will fit.

I think you will find that the KE70 borg warner is a 25 spline and the st141 is a 28 spline, lsd's are available for these although they are conical type and not the most amazing unit to use. The lsds are available out of VL turbos, falcons and pintara/skylines fitted with borgies. If you don't feel like spending the cash on the lsd romac sell mini spools for about 100 and full spools for around 300.

I am unsure if that is the model but am sure they are 28 spline, this means that 4.11 is probably the best ratio you can hope for.

When you put it in you will find the corona brake lines bolt straight up, the the lower arms are the same with apart, the uppers are about 15mm further apart and the bolts on the diff side are 14mm instead of the 12mm used on the ae86. The shock mounts are the same distance apart although the sprin perches are slightly further apart.

Just to clear this up for future reference,

I went to pick a part and pulled an axle out of a disc braked ST141 corona. It was 23 spline, same as the spare axle I pulled out of a KE70 borg warner diff.

to put a st141 disk rear end into ae86:
    st141 disk rear end
ae86 front springs (upside down hits the spring seat)
    ae71 tailshaft for 4A/T50 (u can use a ke70 tailshaft if u got a 4kc)
    adjustable panhard rod

Spoke to a mate who does diff conversions for rotaries and sometimes uses these diffs said there is no such thinig as a 32 spline BW.

    Only come in 25, 28, 31 spline!!!
