Yep, that's what I'm starting to think is the explanation.
I'll track down my AE82 twinky ecu and compare the part no's to the one that came with a resister pack attached. I've always wondered what the deal was with this.
I have read somwhere that some ECU's incorporate the resistors in some form thus removing the need for an external resistor but I am VERY uncertain of that.

Sorry to dig up an old post...lol
I have been searching, and need to know and answer on this please...
My situation....:
4age, N/A, quads, 288/304 cams, power fc (so similar to std comp), expecting about 180+ hp
I need bigger injectors, and was thinking around 300cc, 7MGE are around this size,...
Questions:
Are these injectors compatible, (ie low impedance??)
If not suggest some alternatives...
Regards
Scott
Bigport injectors are low impedence, so you can use:
yellow (7MGE) 295cc injectors
orange/maroon (GZE) 365cc injectors
black (7MGTE) 440cc injectors
if the injectors ARENT that colour, they might be out of a later model engine that could be high impedence, so be careful![]()
Thanks Seamus...
Time to go shopping I guess lol

Scott
i have a bigport, so if i get 4 yellow 7mge injectors it would be a small performance upgrade

You should be able to check the resistance of the injectors you have, with a multimeter set to resistance. Although that may not give you the total impedence... Maybe you could delete the resister pack, or add one, depending on application. This is something to think about...
But there is often enough injector options so you don't need to change your resister pack setup.
There are lots of injector lists about, many listing resistance and flow rate.
