if your gonna let the rego run out your best bet is to cash in the rego.
you can get minors and carnt drive the car due to safety reason's.

so i got a defect (had it coming) but i dont want to keep the car registed anyway, now the coppa told me i still HAVE to get it cleared, i dont get it? the minor box is ticked and on the back is just says not to be driven untill full roadworthy. I didnt get any other paper work..
