Airconditioning after Engine Conversion

hi all..

Just wondering, has anyone been able to get their airconditioning working after a 4ac to 4age conversion?

Im going to be doing my conversion in a few months and just wanted to know whats required to get it working?

Is it a simple fix or somehting I need an auto electrician / ac specialist to look at?

In theory it should be simple enough. The only bit that you'll need to change with the conversion is the aircon compressor. So you'll need to adapt the 4AG one into the original setup. This might need custom hoses, depending on the location and fittings on each compressor.

The only other connection is the AC clutch which will be a single wire control on both units and work exactly the same.

Then of course you'll need to regas the system afterwards too.

My 4age didnt come with compressor.. but do you know if any 4ag compressor will do or does it have to be the RWD one?

why cant you use the original compressor and change the pulley?

all i can tell u is that a fwd one of a ae82 wont work on a rwd jap bigport cause the pulley sits in adifferent length. but the one of the 4ac will apparently fit but u gotta change the size of the pulley is what i was told...just hearsay though on the 4ac one. i bought a jap compressor for like 80 bucks so no biggy really.
if u have a fwd engine changed to rwd you got it easy cause u can use the fwd compressors

yeah prob wont work just aget a aus spec fwd one

the advantage of using the 4ac one is you dont have to regas it, what I have done before on another car is just use some wire to hold the compressor away from the engine so the engine can be worked on/removed.
