first heard of AE86's as "oh some rare kind of corolla" which had me intrigued.. but to be honest i can't remember the real reason i first got into them.. i just remember i found this site and a few others and got RIGHT into them.

lame as it sounds it might've been the drift bible? that red ae86 is soooooo hot! want to touch the heiney!

i dont really know why i got one , just one came up for sale
and it was at reasonable price for a 86.

they are not performace cars in my eyes, people for some
reason think you can beat every thing in the hills with them. But thats bs ,
a silvia is faster in every aspect. But with drift they have an advantage
having a Live axle rear end in the way you get faster feed back on rear grip
levels and the actions taken happen a lot faster , thats my oppinions.

hope i don't get flamed

    gotta be honest i suppose.......

gaming. they popped up in nfs series ages back and have been in both forza'a, gran turismo's....

was always really into drifting the past... decade really, liked 180's first but was always more keen on toyotas.

did watch initial D after it popped up on this forum a couple of years ago, which of course made me like em more.

have owned KE70s and im finally planning to buy a moderately worked spoontah, for a chrissy present in a few months.

    good thread. :2thumbs:

    Definatley a cool thread,
I have read this forum daily for a long time and it made me reply!

First of all I had a KE70(with a 5k WOOT!) and unfortunately aquaplaned into the back of a magna

But this was a blessing in disgiuse as I then bought my first 86! (My mate worked with Dany Osbourne,V8 supercar driver for Colourscan Team in the 90's & he was selling one.)This was beautiful. I fell in love with it on the spot. Outstanding suspension, straight as a ruler. Had Ant Kellam install a 4agze and what else can i say...It was beautiful. Then, Unfortunately, I missioned down to sydney for a week to see mates and it got stolen. F**ckin stolen by some d**k sucking little motherf**ker trying to impress his older brother. I was Shattered.

Now My 2nd 86 has gone no-where near Sydney and I happily owned it for 7 yrs. Its got Koni's all round, massive sound system(from my younger days-ironic its never turned on anymore, too busy listening to the car-lol) Its running a 4agte installed by Ant, (happily pulling 200hp+ for yrs-testemony to his good work) and a body kit no1 likes except me! Ha Ha! Its Never as good as the first example but there's nothing I'd prefer to drive than an 86!

So thats why I bought my 86's.

    Ez...

p.s. I'd like to thank all the NotNoob Leetzors (whatever you call yourselves) for not ripping this thread apart...yet.

A mate of mine owned one back in '03 and he took me out for a street skid in the wet a few times and I loved it.

At the start of '04 a friend of a friend was selling one and I had the cash so I bought it.

I paid 3800 and it had wheels, decent sus, a 4AGE and a complete spare 4AGZE, and lots of other cool stuff.
