I bought a KE70 from an auction that had been stolen and recovered, wasn't a problem to get registered, but you might wanna check on the database that everything is still good.

Check the chassis rails to see if they are kind of straight as well.

i'd go for it if it was from one of those stolen and recovered auctions or whatever but if this bloke has stolen it himself or he bought a stolen car i'd stay the hell away from it. first of all u could get charged with possession of stolen property and get a crim record and then u'd lose ur car that u just bought also. and if ur car got stolen would u want someone to buy it off the guy that stole it. i'd stay away unless it was bought at one of those legit auctions.

If it was a private sale of a stolen car I would test drive it and run over the person trying to sell a stolen car!

    Not cool...

Yes if he did steal the car then yes i would be running him over but he didnt
someone has previously stolen the car earlier in its life and it has been recovered by the owner
then it was sold and purchased and what not, and know it is being sold again
if that all makes sense

Do a check on the car by your local Road Department. If its from an auction the car will have been cleared and it will be part of its disposal process so buying and registering it will be a snap. Probably cheap too

But if its a private sale then back out ASAP, unless they can prove that the car has been disposed of properly by the authorities. You can normally buy a pack from the Main Roads (or whatever it is in SA), you need the rego number, VIN number and engine number to do it.

possibly do a REVS check, i know you should do this when buying a car to check if it has outstanding money owed on it and whatnot, but i'm sure if its not legit (i.e. stolen), they will be able to let you know
