either way you go you can find tyres but not much stretchability with a 6.5 or 7 you needd to think 9 inch for stretchuuuu
i run 14x9 with a 185 60 drives really nice
hey,
I'm soon to be in the market for a new to me set of wheels, and i've found some nice wantanabes and rs8's for a good price only problem is there 14inch, and i've heard tires in the 6.5 and 7 inch widths are becoming hard to source is this true?
i was thinking about just stretching them but due to all the soft shoulders on our roads i don't want to end up with punctures, when ever i drop a wheel of the side of the road. is there other advantages of going to 15inch other then more readily available tires?

15s for performance - cheaper (usually) huge range of tyres, you can fit brakes under them
14s for period correct styling flavour - look cool, car looks lower, hard to find GOOD tyres, big profile, light
i would go 15s on a motorsport car
or 14s on a pose master
having said that 14x8 mk2s or 3s over 15s anyday lol
i asume by desent tyres you mean used tyres..??
new tyres, you can get what you want but there is definately a bigger choise of perfomance tyres for the 15's
they can also effect handeling depending on the tyres that you put on them, 14's with 185/60 will have typicaly more grip progression 15's with say a 195/50 seem to have more grip but quickly loose grip when there limit is reached. just personal perferance really.
^^thats sidewal flex you speak of, it makes the tyre with a larger profile more forgiving.
RT142 Estate.
AJPS.
it just feels like that cos the side wall is wobbling lol
and new 15inch performance tyres are cheap
new 14 inch performance tyres are dropping like flies no more gIIIs
no replacement
tis a sad tale
as for 14inch skid tyres WIN
Go 13" stockies! Wo0t!
I kid, I kid. I'm in a similar dilemma, love the idea of 15" but it makes tyre fitment inside the guard harder (not including flaring guards etc). But for a daily driver I think 14" provide the best looks on the car, and can certainly be good for grip as well. And it works with the style of the car.
That my reasoning![]()
