    Hi all,
I'm just wondering what clutch i will need for my 86 once i get it on the road.

I want something that wont wreck my gearbox but can still put up with a bit of abuse, and will last with geneal street use and possibly a bit of track work.

    Any ideas?

    Cheers Daniel

Id recommend the extreme heavy duty. It has a normal organic clutch plate with a heavy pressure plate.

I had one in my car and it never slipped.... Other then that theres the puck clutch but t50s dont like them

I use a excedy 4puck which give the gearbox a bit of abuse, im planning on just going back to a excedy heavy duty clutch which is nice and stiff but not overly aggressive. Driven my mates 86 on road and track a bit which has one and id say its the way to go.

So excedy heavy duty is the way to go you reckon? I know my mates R32 when he put a puck clutch in, the gearbox was rooted in no time at all.

Have an exedy heavy duty in mine at the moment. Started to die bout 6 months ago, slips really bad. Picking up a heavy duty cushioned button in the next few days. They grip like a button but don't have the strain on your components I'm pretty sure. Oh well, we'll see.

Also it all depends on how you treat it as to how long the box will last with a pucker. Whether you do redline clutch drops every 5 minutes or whether you just drive it with a bit of enthusiasm.

    Exedy Extreme Heavy Duty ftw

Been in mine for like 6 months now, been through 1 drift day now, still damn good feel on the road

Benefit for street use is that it provides the best feel vs performance

i'm assuming organic clutches are still kickable? i'm looking at choosing between a "ceramic" clutch and an organic one, i always thought buttons wore out the fastest due to f all surface area??
