Thread: Evo vs. STi

  1. #1

    Question Evo vs. STi

I just had to do this

In older generations I like both, but I lean more towards the Evo, and I sense I might be a minority here.

As for the current models, I like neither. I think 5 doors is 1 door too many(STi) and I dislike automatic/semi-automatic transmissions (Evo X MR).
I'm also disappointed that the styling for the Evos is the same as the cheaper Lancers, but I guess production efficiency is more important than customer satisfaction.

Although I'd never buy neither of these cars, I've always wondered how they perform, what maintenance they require, pros & cons, etc. Anyone here owned one?

I have an EVO 6.5 but still waiting to get my hands on it.

STI looks ok for a Daweoo shape , but the standard WRX looks shit IMO , looked much better in the model before with the higher wing though, not that aftertought that they called a wing on the standard models of wrx. Again theis is Just my opion, other will disagree but thats what makes us all different.

    cheers

I owned a RS liberty befor i got the 86 and i would neverown a nother Subarue. the engins are good mines the fact that they are near imposable to do work on unless you have a lift or a SH^T load of time on your hands and the gearboxes are week as piss. unless you go an STI or a dog box. I would go an evo any day of the week they are prooven both on and off the track, they look grate , and parts are so readly avalible. not to mention its a grate engin and box and you can actually work on it with eas.

I've driven every model wrx since 1997, both STI's and normal subi's.
There good cars but like most things once your used to them you know all the flaws.
the new hatch wrx thing is ugly as shit, I think the entire shape took a downfall since 2000, although the 07 cat eyes look ok.

Top gears says the sti is still faster around a track than an evo, but i'd take the evo.
The whole idea of paying 60k for a car and getting cheap shitty plastic interiors still boggles me though.

As for subaru i'd take the 06 sti liberty over any other car in the range any day.

    subaru's engine's are just crap
    pistons are pure chocolate

    evo's are great
    i have 2 6.5s and a rwd 2
    had a 9 and i hated it
the 6 is the best of the bunch
    very very drivable
    ultimate car
    6.5 with a 9 engine with a 9rs turbo = mad fun
