2871 on a 1600 engine would be lacking any response. hence the hi power figure, would be "ok" for a track warrior, streeter would suck, stuff you would have to do some clutch kickin to get it going....
that engine have forged pistons or atleast ze pistons and rods?
with just the above mods i give it no more then 6 months..."pooof" smoke oil and a rod saying Gday

Ohh really? never have i desired more response out of this combination, infact after switching to e85, the response is even better. The car is used primarily for super sprints. The engine has been running for 3 years, half of which it has been raced very regularly. Oran park, Wakefield, Eastern creek, Bathurst, you name it. I even have done a couple of powercruises in it.

The engine has stock 100kw rods and crank, with gze forgies (purchased new from toyota).

Ohh and it certainly does not need a clutch kick to turn tyres.

thanks for you "expert opinion" but.

fantastic work with the build too mate, its really nice to see someone putting the effort in to build a nice car, as opposed to a slap together hack. All your aluminium work looks top notch, and the detail stuff like intercooler and oil cooler brackets are what sets it apart from the rest.

and would you like to declare what RPM the engine hits full boost at? and at what RPM it makes those figures?

1600 cc capacity, stock cams, 8.9: comp ratio (there abouts)
What is the trim on the 2871 as this makes a huge difference, intercooler size, cooler pipe ID and length, TB and manifold, headers and exhaust spec...... so its a bit of a misconception to state a stock 4a with a 2871 makes 230KW because thats just BS AFAIK

i own a highly developed turbo 4a, and owned a hi powered SR with multiple turbo swaps, L series, built a few as well.. know of the sneeky tricks dyno tuners do to give "hi figures"

look what jacks me off is misleading guys with lack of info because this leads to more guys passing on your info which is not correct.

the tracks its been on gives no resemblance to an engines claimed performance btw.

Ok i was going to leave it, but i think Kieran might be interested in how his car may perform so i will back my bullshit claims.

and would you like to declare what RPM the engine hits full boost at? and at what RPM it makes those figures?

    4psi @ 2500rpm, 10psi @ 3500rpm, 18psi @4500rpm. It makes 340hp @ 7000rpm.

1600 cc capacity, stock cams, 8.9: comp ratio (there abouts)

yep stock capacity, stock cams (smallport), 8.9 comp (stock late gze forgies)

What is the trim on the 2871 as this makes a huge difference, intercooler size, cooler pipe ID and length, TB and manifold, headers and exhaust spec...... so its a bit of a misconception to state a stock 4a with a 2871 makes 230KW because thats just BS AFAIK

turbo specs, compressor trim 48 a/r 0.60 exhaust trim 76 a/r 0.64, intercooler is an ebay 300x450x76mm, 2.5inch piping run in the same route as Kieran's, stock TB, simple steam pipe manifold, 3inch exhaust with cat and muffler. So as you can see its as stock as a turbo 4age can be.

i own a highly developed turbo 4a, and owned a hi powered SR with multiple turbo swaps, L series, built a few as well.. know of the sneeky tricks dyno tuners do to give "hi figures"

Yea nice story. The car is tuned by a good mate of mine who no longer tunes for a living, on the dyno, with me driving, him pushing buttons. There are no sneaky tricks. We have nothing to hide.

look what jacks me off is misleading guys with lack of info because this leads to more guys passing on your info which is not correct.

What jacks me off is guys like yourself who have never seen my setup, and would have no idea how much 'misleading info' im spreading.

the tracks its been on gives no resemblance to an engines claimed performance btw.

Yes, but it gives an indication of how much the engine has been used, ie. more than your 6 months before rods exit block estimate . What will give an indication of an engines performance is the quarter mile and more importantly your trap speed. The cars best pass so far, and it is certainly not a drag car, and far from a perfect pass, is a 12.0 @ 119mph. That mph is indicative that my dyno figures are not hugely overstated.

So you tell me, where is the bullshit/misleading information?

And then how is it you come to get that figure if it's never been on a dyno?

Responsive? Which is my main gripe. It's only on full boost for 2500 rpm! Hardly responsive. Maybe when it's on full song. But there is my point.
I'm not slagging your engine, but just after a bit of realism.

ehh? when did i say its never been on the dyno? its been on about ten times.

The engine spins to the rev cut at 7500rpm, so yea it makes 18psi for 3000rpm, big deal. The key bit of info that you missed is 10psi at 3500rpm. Thats good useable boost right where you need it, and if you cant comprehend that, then you don't understand engines or turbos. You tell me, when should it make boost by? The power delivery is fairly linear. I tell you what, why don't you post a graph of what you consider to be good/have built and we can take it from there. Its very easy to be critical when you haven't done shit.

Whatever, Just hurry up and tune your's Kieran, i think you will be happy with the turbo selection. Whens the ETA for completion?
