trying to sort out cooling and diff mounting at the moment... It was suggested I go to dessert something to get a Radiator made up? Anyone got any info on them?
I really wanna go for a slide on the 15th at winton so I need to sort out a new cooling system and I need a place to install the 2way... Any suggestions? Neeeeeeeeed to slide!!!
Attempting to jib the parentals out of 2 bride zeta III's in carbon fibre, the perfect seat for street and track use. We'll see how that goes.. If they don't come through.. I'll go with carbon drivers and FEP for passengers until I can justify 2k on a passengers seat..
Any words of advice?
Benny
Keysborough diffs in... keysbourough/dandy. That's where I'm taking mine. If you want we can get them both done at the same time since i'm heading htat way anyway
WHAT THE HELL??!?!?!?! how dah fark did the alternator end up like that? Was it even bolted up? hahaha that's whack!
hmm Aza that might be a go.. Someone recommended me a place in Boronia so I'll call them and get a quote first. I've got their number so I'll give them a buzz today. Apparently I need some sort of 4.7 pinion thing before I put it into the car... Can anyone explain? but yeah Aza we'll def get them done at the same time. Only problem is access to it. It's at my mums remember..
Hao man I have no idea.. I left it all in working order.. I pop the bonnet when I next see it and it is in pieces... Very disappointed. it looks like someone has removed the belts and mounting bracket. Excited was a word... Finally I could kill someone.. Haha.. Anyone have a spare bracket?
Hi,
Fairly big update in terms of progress, gathering all the parts I need immediately so the ball can get rolling a lot quicker, which will be excellent.
I've bought a little since I last posted, mainly due to me aquiring a visa debit card... lol! They are sooo good, makes car modding a whole lot easier.
I bought some front RX7 brakes off my best mate, in really good condition with either Endless or Project Mu pads and standard discs, going to upgrade to Civic RDA slotted rotors when I can find them for the right price.
Headlight intake >>> <<< for a bit of fun, plus more cooling and they look tuff.
SARD GT Carbon Fibre Mirrors >>> <<< which are obviously just drop dead sexy and will set off the car brilliantly. Theres never enough carbon fibre on a car imo.. I've always loved the look of them, great to finally have some! These ones apparently bolt on to the door, which will be interesting, seeing as i'm going carbon doors later down the track..
C's Short Shifter >>> <<< , obvious reasons for that.. + it's tuff!
The car has been bug bombed I am told, this means 100% spider infestation free! Yay Benny!! All in preperation to bring it home. I have the garage to myself for near on a month or two, which is thoroughly exciting. During that time,
The KAAZ 2 way will go into the t-18.
The car will be completely stripped of seats, dash, sound deadener etc. Up on stands, the driveshaft will be out, as will the rear end and the diff will go in.
The FC front brakes will go in, with the huge slotted rotors.
The engine will come out and cleaned up/fixed.
The sway bars/strut braces will be installed.
The Super Pro Bushes will be fitted.
The C's Short shifter will go in, whether I grab a better box or not is the next question..
The GT mirrors will be dummy installed.
The Headlight intake will be fitted for laughs.
Stay tuned for the Welcome Home Ceremony and future suprises! This little hachi is getting better and better by the day.
Benny.
Don't forget to fix the alternator![]()
Hey guys and gals, 8 months since the last update.. My bad!
As of last update, I was working at Jetstar, that didn't work out, left in February and kicked back for a month or so then start Membership consulting at Fitness First, that didn't work out either haha.. After a month or so I left that out of pure boredom. From April till late July I went jobless. Just chillin with the girlfriend who also wasn't working(met her at Jetstar, left around the same time). Recently started working at Seek.com.au which is a blast, good people and good work, even if it is Outbound!
While not working, I was without money, so I couldn't do a lot in terms of modifications to the project, unfortunately.. The list was as follows to be done while the car was garaged with me:
The KAAZ 2 way will go into the t-18. – Didn't happen.
The car will be completely stripped of seats, dash, sound deadener etc. – This was good fun, went to BOC and bought 5kg of Dry ice, the lady spilled it conveniently into the esky and I ended up with around 10kg, all of which I used! So lucky I managed to get the extra. I must insist on using Dry ice, though when you are doing it, don't be too force happy with the mallet, or you WILL you're your floorpan. Chisels work great! Stripped out everything which wasn't needed and could add weight, removed all of what trim was left in the car, roof lining, all plastics, any random brackets in the rear of the car, all dash brackets, glovebox etc. Didn't manage to strip the dash, but I'll get around to that eventually, custom N2 dash on it's way from a mate.
Up on stands, the driveshaft will be out, as will the rear end and the diff will go in. – Didn't happen.
The FC front brakes will go in, with the huge slotted rotors. – Didn't happen.
The engine will come out and cleaned up/fixed. – Didn't happen, however I did put atleast 15 cans of degreaser on it. I spent a lot of time spraying, scrubbing spraying scrubbing etc. on the thing, need to get it started to see exactly where the oil leak is coming from. Hopefully it's just the headgasket. They're easy to replace. There is actually clean metal under there somewhere! It's amazing!(when I bought the car, the engine was basically black(which got me $500 off the price which I was happy about lol)).
The sway bars/strut braces will be installed. – Installed the strut braces, naturally, in the essence of something always going wrong.. One of the front strut brace bolts was jammed, ended up cutting it out if I remember correctly, that's all in now with 2 bolts. Looking at a custom setup now, similar to what SamQ has built. Looks to be the strongest and lightweight(est). Rear strut brace was too long for rear mounts, so a bit of bashing was used there haha, fits ok now… Wouldn't trust it though! Rear Sway bar also in.
The Super Pro Bushes will be fitted. – Didn't happen. Anyone know anyone reliable to install these?
The C's Short shifter will go in, whether I grab a better box or not is the next question.. – Didn't happen, can do anytime, just couldn't find the motivation to get out there and do it.
The GT mirrors will be dummy installed. – Didn't happen, we had a look at how to do it, weighing up our options.
The Headlight intake will be fitted for laughs. – It looks hott. Can't wait to have the whole thing together and this installed, it's just so pimp! Wish it was carbon fibre though, that would add to it's pimpness.
Now since last update I've moved out of home(more removed by force) and so the project once again went back up to mums shed to sit there alone. I haven't seen the thing in a while, I REALLY hope I won't find another spider infestation when I open it up.. I'm worried. Good news though! There is a double garage here, so all I've really got to do is clear out everything from it(only problem being what to do with the stuff I take out!) and bring the car down! Now I'm working properly in a job I love and will stick to, I'll be able to start modifying properly!
I'm looking to have the car ready for the Winton Practice day on September 6th. as of yesterday, that's a month away, with 2 paychecks going into my account… I THINK it's achievable. No doubt I'll run into problems, but the list to be completed so I can enter:
Custom twin core radiator. – Had a chat to a mate today about this, apparently he can get one made and sent down to me in no time at all for around $450 delivered. I see no downside to that at all. Almost perfect, this means it'll be ready in time and I won't have to dish out for a temporary Excel one or something..
Weber linkage. – Same mate reckons $150 from a supplier he didn't mention. They're expensive eh? I still need to do my research on Webers, I'm lost when it comes to carby's lol. Not hard to get he said so that's not a problem.
Throttle cable. – Someone from 86dc mentioned a ke70 cable would work. I might give it a go temporarily, but I'll get one made up custom eventually, just so I can guarantee the quality.
Alternator belt. – Apparently I've got some sort of weird pulley setup, so I've measured it up and will head into repco and grab one. Nor a 4ac or a 4age of any type fit… Quite strange really.
2way into t-18. – Aza knows a place that'll do it, so I'll have to lug the whole thing, probably via ute, out there to get it put in before the 6th.. Mission impossible 4 much?! Can someone tell me if I need to get a new crown and pinion when putting the new lsd in? I think the person who told me that was spinning shit. I'll have a 4.7 eventually, but can't afford it yet.
I'd LOVE to be able to tune it before I hit the track, but I doubt it'll happen, just no time to get it out there + I doubt the funds would allow it.
So after Winton, no doubt I'll have broken something, so that'll be fixed… If I don't manage to write it off, next on the cards are the N2 guards and front lip, this'll set me back $1,150 + delivery. Also thinking about going with a Trueno front, all I need from the actual car are the popups which I don't think are THAT hard to find! Interesting stuff if I can get ahold of it.. The rest is just fiberglass/carbon fibre.. I'll need to make the decision before I get the guards/lip though because the two standard front bars vary slightly. After the guards I'm saving up for wheels.. The specs of the wheels are a surprise, but they'll be brand new custom Watanabes. Got a quote of about 2.4k, a lot of saving there!
Well I'm really fkn tired, so that'll do for now, I'll post up the mod list I've drawn up another day, as well as any progress I make. More often too! I'll also chuck up some pics when I get them of clean engine bay/stripped interior etc.
xoxo - benny
wow, you wrote like a novel for an update!
sounds like you've got everything planned out and ready to rock!
I want to see some pics!!!![]()
