i filled it up with fuel and drive down the road about 1km and starts missing so i pulled over and it stalls. i try to restart it but it won't run for more than a few seconds. i open the fuel cap and fuel poors out. lucky i live down hill from where i broke down so i was able to coast it home. i tryed removing some of the fuel. and ran it again but still its missing. i find that one of the leads is in a bad ways and i'm not sure if this is the problem or it is fuel related. has anyone had a similar problem. the cars is a ae86 with a AFM GZE with front mount, it doesn't have a surge tank. just a HP pump. it was running fine before. anyone got any clues to solving the problem.

probably dodge fuel. empty it as much as you can, and go buy some premium stuff, chances are it will be fixed.

When i had just completed my conversion i had a problem similar to this.

It was caused by a blockage/restriction in the return line for the fuel, it had heaps of pressure in the fuel rail and when the pressure regulator opened it would not return due to the blockage, the spark plugs would foul and it would miss until it would not fire at all. Have a look to see the state of your spark plugs. Also had a dodge ignition lead. Check these things out, because from what you have described it sounds like what i had.

    Good Luck

so i tryed plugs and leads. it drove fine for about 20 minutes then started with a slight miss and it just kept getting worse. i'm gunna try a fuel filter but i'm not hopeful. does anyone know how you can test a gze AFM.

I dont know how to test the AFM but it definately sounds like its running rich and fouling plugs. Mine does exactly the same.

Have you looked into things like an O2 sensor? (if you dont already have one)

Check to see how much fuel pressure is in the rail. Someone here should be able to tell you how much it should be. I think its about 400 - 450 MPa.

If its extremely high and stays that way you have a return line blockage. I made what used to be the fume return the return line. Its bigger and has almost solve my problems. Just needs a tune now.

I would go as far as to say its definately a fuel issue.

maybe crank angle sensor. ( affected by heat) or the fuel pump. i had similar problems. ( spluttered after like 20min of driving then conked out. after it got hot the fuel pumps shat themselfs then i waited for a few minites and it ran good for a while, then the same thing. replaced the fuel pumps and it fixed the problem.

thats interesting callum1 i will try to get a gauge on it some how. i have a gauge but it has a fitting for a tyre valve type fitting on the fuel rail. do you just fit a T peice in the supply line and then conect the gauge.. i checked the O2 sensor and wiring and they look ok.
