    Having some problems with my clutch remaining engaged, even with the clutch pedal in.

    Clutch is a brass button xtreme with matched pressure plate, with a toda flywheel.

    It stays engaged on with the clutch in, but does it randomly not every time you pull up to a stop. if you hold the brakes on it will free itself off again, but i don't wanna keep doing this because i think it's probably screwing the clutch up.

    I've fitted new master and slave cylnders, and there is no fluid leaks from the lines, so i'm pretty sure the hydraulic system isn't the problem.

    I'm leaning towards maybe a broken bolt holding the pressure plate on, or one of the clips holding the thrust bearing to the clutch fork has come off, but i'm not sure.

    Any ideas would be helpful

    I think it might pressure plate getting stuck on, i have a very similar problem when my clutch gets a bit of a beating at the track. It will go all stiff and not engage as good as it should, the first time it happened it just completely stuck on so it free reved whether in gear or not with the pedel alll the way out.

    Sorry if i havent read the post correctly but hopefully im close to what you were talking about, about the best i can say is get the box out to have a look. But in saying that i havent even been bothered doing that myself as its alot of work.

    I had this problem when i went to the drags the other day. It ended up being a cracked pressureplate.

    Get under when its doing it and see if the clutch slave is getting jambed or not.

    if not, theres a good chance its inside the box.

    I thought my problem was either the master or slave originally so i went down to the clutch place. They said the main reason for this is that the master cylinder doesnt let all the pressure out of the system, but you say that have been replace so it shouldnt be that.

    check the springs on the plate are seated right, or check the clutch fork isn't bent or anything.

    failing that, work your way up the system

    it's easy to visually see if the slave is stuffed, just get under the car and have a friend plant the pedal

    check the adjustment as well

    trial and error, thats it

    I'm pretty sure it's not the slave, as it is new, and does it randomly, I had to replace the clutch plate itself, after only 2 weeks of use (xtreme gave me a dud one) and it wasn't doing it with the previous clutch disc, so i think i'm going to have to remove the gearbox to see what the problem actually is

    ls1's do this ALL the time.....

    almost always its the pressure plate thats collapsed on one side, so when you push the clutch, it only depresses half the fingers. allowing for most of the drive to discontinue, but not all.

    thats why, if you hold the brakes on, it will let go, cause the clutch is slipping enough to stop the drive. definetly not a good idea.

    i reakon your going to have to remove the box. after you do so, just look at the fingers and see if some are lower or higher than others. this will give a clear sign if its collapsed or not.

    another classic ls1 problem is the pressure plate bolts breaking and not providing even pressure on the clutch plate.

    (sorry for all the ls1 reference, but it sounds like exactly the same thing, and thats what i know.....ls1's, all too well )

    I have a suspicion that it's broken the bolts on the flywheel that hold the pressure plate on so i guess i'll definately have to pull the box off and have a look now...
